Ganduje To Visiting APC Leaders: Oyo Important, Tinubu Can’t Afford To See A Beautiful Fowl With Vulture Head
The national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has called on party members across the country to prioritise the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027, describing it as a “task that must be done.”
Speaking on Wednesday during a meeting with Oyo state APC stakeholders in Abuja, Ganduje also directed the party to intensify efforts to reclaim Oyo state from the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2027 elections.
The meeting had in attendance the Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu; members of the state’s National Assembly caucus; the acting state chairman; and other party chieftains.
Ganduje emphasised the importance of unity among party leaders and members in Oyo state, noting that only a united front can achieve the dual goals of ensuring President Tinubu’s re-election and regaining control of the state.
“We must work together as one family to secure the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and reclaim Oyo State. The task ahead requires collective effort and unwavering commitment,” Ganduje stated.
The chairman urged stakeholders to begin preparations early and ensure grassroots mobilization to strengthen the party’s chances in the 2027 elections.
“Oyo state is part of our blueprint which we call political party homogeneity. We have been looking for unity and uniformity in Oyo State. Now we are seeing elements of unity and uniformity.
“We are concerned about the unity of Oyo State and the unity of Nigeria and the homogeneity of the South West because our 2027 is a task that must be done.”
The National Chairman also urged the Oyo leaders to organise a mega stakeholders meeting in Ibadan that will involve all the members of the party to the point that the opposition will be intimated.
“We made it clear when we came on board that it will not be business as usual. Political parties in developing countries are always active during election time.
“We want the party to be active in the State throughout the year. We want your party offices from the ward, to the Local Government levels be physically habitable and functionally operational by having constant meetings.
“I have already told you our blueprint about President Bola Tinubu. Coming home as the son of the soil, he cannot afford to see a beautiful fowl with a head of the Vulture and Oyo State political party homogeneity is the answer.
“Anybody who is patriotic about the unity of this country, anybody in love with this country, should be happy that your geopolitical zone has produced the president.”
No More Faction In Oyo APC, We Lost 2019, 2023 Elections Due To Division — Adelabu
Earlier, the Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu said the party unlike 2023 the state chapter of the party is now a united.
Admitting that the party lost to PDP in 2019 and 2023 due to division among the party, Adelabu said: “I want to say that what our distinguished Senator Yunus Akintunde mentioned and what my dear brother Prince Akingbade Yemi mentioned is gladdening to our hearts. We are happy that for the first time, after the last elections, Oyo APC can now speak with one voice.
“There is no faction in Oyo State APC again and we are more determined than ever before to take over the governance in Oyo state.
“I believe we lost the last two elections, not to non-popularity of the party in the states or due to lack of effort on our part. But it is division. A house that is divided against itself will surely fail. Oyo State is an APC State. We all know that.”
The stakeholders also presented the acting state chairman, Alhaji Moshood Olayide Abass to the National Working Committee (NWC) following the recent demise of the state chairman, Barr. Isaac Omodewu.
