APPLE'S STATEMENT ON MINERALS MUST BE 'VERIFIED'-DRC. (PHOTO).

 Apple's statement on minerals must be 'verified': DRC International lawyers for the Democratic Republic of Congo welcomed Apple's decision to stop sourcing minerals from there due to worsening conflict, but said they would press ahead with their cases against the company in Europe. Criminal complaints were filed against Apple subsidiaries in France and Belgium this week on behalf of DR Congo, accusing the tech firm of using conflict minerals in its supply chain, Reuters reported. DR Congo is a major source of tin, tantalum and tungsten, so-called 3T minerals used in computers and mobile phones. But some artisanal mines are run by armed groups involved in massacres, rapes and other crimes, say UN experts and rights groups. 'Satisfaction and caution' Apple said on Tuesday that it strongly disputes the claims and has told suppliers they must not use the minerals in question sourced from DR Congo or Rwanda. WE BOUGHT 36 JEEPS FOR N36.5 MILLION EACH NOT 108 CARS-SENATE.

                          Today tuesday,the Nigerian Senate said that they bought 36 Land Cruiser VXR V8 jeeps at N36.5 million each for its members.The upper chamber also said no member has taken the car loan granted them at the inception of the Eight Senate.The 36 cars at the rate of N36.5 million each give about N1.314 billion.Chairman,Senate Services,Senator Ibrahim Abdullahi Gobir,who handled the controversial car purchase deal,gave the explanation in Abuja.He said contrary to reports making the rounds that the Senate bought 108 cars for its me,bers,only 36 cars were purchased by the upper chamber.The Sokoto East Senator told reporters that the explanation became necessary because of the need for Nigerians to understand what transpired and for the Senate to clear the erroneous impression created in the minds of most Nigerians about the car purchase.He described the 36 vehicles as ''utility cars'' distributed on one pe...

                     The Federal Road Safety Commission {FRSC} yesterday monday has refuted social media reports that a Federal High Court in Lagos has nullified its powers to issue fines,tickets and impound offender vehicles.Speaking to the Press in Abuja,Mr Bisi Kazeem,the commission's Public Relations Officer,said FRSC was aware of the post on social media questioning it's powers to punish traffic offenders.He said ''The truth is that there is no recent judgement of the FHC Lagos on the Tope Alabi case as is being circulated.What happened was that one Bar Tope Alabi challenged the powers of the FRSC to arrest him and impound his vehicle and make him pay fines for offences alleged.The FHC presided over by Justice Tsoho held that FRSC had no such powers.This was in Sept,2014.However,in a case on all fours with the Tope Alabi case earlier in March,same year,2014,same Justice Tsoho in the case of Bren Williams & Anor vFRSC,held t...
