 Zamfara Governor’s Wife Facilitates Marriage for 100 Orphans, Offers Support to Grooms The wife of the Zamfara State Governor, Huriyya Dauda Lawal, has overseen the marriage of 100 orphaned girls in the state. The brides, who were well cared for prior to the ceremony, received full attention for their beautification. Each bride’s dowry, amounting to 151,000 Naira, was covered by the Governor’s wife. In addition, Huriyya Dauda Lawal provided essential household items, including furniture such as cushions, beds, wardrobes, mattresses, and kitchen utensils. Furthermore, she offered financial assistance of N50,000 to each groom to help them start their businesses and achieve self-sufficiency. Hajiya Lawal encouraged the brides to respect their husbands and practice patience. She also assured them that the Zakkat and Endowment Board would be available to offer support should any marital issues arise.

Enoch Adeboye, general overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), says he doesn’t yet know if there will be elections in 2023. Speaking during a sermon on Sunday, the general overseer said God is yet to speak to him about the election. “As I am standing before you, I still don’t know whether there will be an election next year,” he said. “Don’t say that Pastor Adeboye said there will be no election next year. That’s not what I’m saying. I’m saying I don’t know yet. I don’t know because my father hasn’t talked to me about it at all.

The Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, on Saturday, urged the people of the state to observe a one-day prayer session against the activities of the gunmen terrorising the state and the South-East region. He said the move became necessary so as to counter the evil attached to the Indigenous People of Biafra’s sit-at-home order. The governor said the prayer session will hold on Monday, April 4, 2022, in churches and other religious centres across the state. Soludo explained that the prayer session was against those hiding under the IPOB’s name to cause havoc in the state.

It is said that the man, 60, from the city of Magdeburg, received up to 90 vaccinations against COVID-19 at centres in Saxony. The 60-year-old, whose name has not been released in line with German privacy laws, got the jabs for months until police caught him. He was discovered after he had a COVID-19 jab two days in a row at a vaccination centre in Eilenburg, Saxony. A five-year-old Florida girl died after her mother kidnapped her and led police on a high-speed chase that ended with her vehicle crashing into a retention pond. Pamela Tereza Cabrera, 32, led police on a 30-mile pursuit through North Jacksonville on Thursday night, reaching speeds of 90 mph, before she crashed her vehicle into the pond as she tried to exit the interstate. Officers pulled Cabrera out of the water, but were unable locate her daughter, Vanity, WJAX reported. A dive team eventually found the five-year-old dead at the bottom of the pond. Cabrera was arrested on several charges, including fleeing or attempting to elude a law enforcement officer, vehicular homicide and multiple counts of battery. She lost custody of Vanity in 2020 as she battled schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. She was expected in court on Friday but did not show up due to 'disruptive behavior.' The Obi of Onitsha, Igwe Nnaemeka Alfred Achebe, revealed that he was to board the Abuja-Kaduna train that was attacked on Monday, March 28, but a phone call caused him to abort the journey. The attack left some of the passengers dead, others injured and many still unaccounted for. Speaking on Saturday, April 2, when Igbo leaders under the aegis of Ahamefuna Socio-cultural organisation converged in Enugu, Igwe Achebe said he did not board the train because of a phone call inviting him for an emergency. He said: "I was among the passengers meant to be on the train last Monday because I had a meeting I was supposed to be attending. I was already at the train station when I got a call over an emergency and I had to leave the station to attend to it." The chief Imam of Apo Juma’at Mosque in Abuja, Sheikh Nuru Khalid, has been suspended by the mosque’s steering committee for criticizing President Muhammadu Buhari over Kaduna train bombing. The Imam, in his Friday sermon, had criticized the president for failure to visit Kaduna over the daring terrorist attack, saying condemnation wasn’t enough. He argued that the president was in Kaduna for campaign but refused to visit the state after the bomb attack. ”Everyone condemned the incident, except the bandits. So condemnation is not enough. The president should visit the state to sympathise with the victims. ”The president has been to Kaduna for campaigns but couldn’t go to the state on a sympathy visit,” he said. The chairman of the mosque steering committee, Sai’du Dansadau, however said the Imam was sacked for inciting sermon on April 1.

More facts have emerged on why members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) who are loyalists of Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed defected to the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Kwara state. The former APC members who are at loggerheads with Kwara state governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq told SUNDAY INDEPENDENT that the emergence of Senator Abdullahi Adamu as the national chairman of the APC influenced their decision to call it quit with the party. Alhaji Lawal Shehu, a chieftain of the party said they strongly believed that they cannot get justice in the APC since Adamu, who was the chairman of the party’s reconciliation committee is now the national chairman. When asked whether they got the blessing of Lai Mohammed to leave the APC for SDP, he said the Minister appealed to them not to dump the party as the whole issue will be sorted out before the election but they can’t wait because the election is just few months away.
