PSC PROMOTES OVER 8,000 POLICE OFFICERS. (PHOTO).

 PSC Promotes Over 8,000 Police Officers On Wednesday, the Police Service Commission (PSC) approved the promotion of 8,053 senior police officers. Earlier in the week, 11 Commissioners of Police were promoted to the rank of Assistant Inspectors General (AIGs), and 16 Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs) were elevated to the rank of Commissioners of Police (CPs). Additionally, 21 Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs) were promoted to DCPs, and 57 Chief Superintendents of Police (CSPs) moved up to Assistant Commissioners (ACPs). According to a statement by the PSC's spokesperson, Ikechukwu Ani, the total number of promotions included 1,348 Superintendents of Police (SPs) promoted to Chief Superintendents, 876 Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs) promoted to Superintendents, and 5,829 Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASPs) promoted to DSPs.       What can be called a fundamental change has been instituted in the Lagos State Civil Service. Henceforth, elevation of any person to the position of Permanent Secretary will now be based on examination and rigorous interviews, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu declared on Wednesday. Besides, the Governor said the regular promotion of civil servants from one level to another would be based “strongly” on performance - a move disrupting the grade level model being used by the Civil Service.       Lagos State Government has dismissed the rumoured suspicion of cases of the Coronavirus Disease (COVID-2019) in Gowon Estate, Alimosho Local Government Area of the State. The Commissioner for Health, Prof. Akin Abayomi, dismissed the rumour making the rounds on social media that Chinese from Wuhan, China residing in Osoba Close, Gowon Estate displayed severe symptoms of Coronavirus disease, saying there is no truth in the report. Giving an update on investigations carried out by the Ministry through its surveillance team, Prof. Abayomi declared that there is no suspected or confirmed cases of Coronavirus in Lagos State contrary to fake news being circulated in the media.       A Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), AIDs Health Care Foundation (AHF), will distribute 250,000 condoms in six states of the federation along with the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja in commemoration of the 2020 International Condom Day (ICD). Steve Aborisade, marketing manager of AHF Nigeria, made this known in a statement in Abuja on Tuesday. He stated that the 2020 ICD, with “Safer is Fun” as its theme , will be celebrated on Feb. 13, to commemorate Saint Valentine’s Day which is celebrated on February 14 annually. He said that AHF would mark the day with a road walk, free distribution of condoms and HIV testing and counselling exercise across six AHF-Nigeria programme states of Benue, Kogi, Akwa Ibom, Cross River, Nasarawa, Anambra and Abuja. EFCC VOWS TO ARREST PROMOTER OF FAKE ''EFCC CELL'' REPORT.{PHOTOS}.#PRESS RELEASE.

     The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has vowed to apprehend the promoter of a report in the social media, claiming its Port Harcourt holding facility is overcrowded and alleging mistreatment of detainees. Head of the Port Harcourt Zonal office, Usman Imam speaking at a media briefing today, February 12, 2020, dismissed the report as fake news. According to him, "the picture of detainees crammed into an ope n air cell purported to belong to the EFCC Zonal office in Port Harcourt is fake. The images are strange to us". He further stated that the Commission, "do not have an open cell, our cell is a stand-alone facility with no close proximity to any storey building; we have never had large inmates that the cell could not accommodate, and we have no history of mistreatment of detainees".More photos below.

     The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Lagos Zonal Office, on Wednesday, February 12, 2020, arraigned four suspected fraudsters, Richard Ironbar Edemdem, Samuel Okpapi, Nelson Ojovbo, Bamigbade Olushola and a company, ISD Technology Limited.They were arraigned before Justice Muhammad Liman of the Federal High Court, Ikoyi, Lagos, on a three- count charge bordering on felony and stealing to the tune of N36, 837, 438.20 (Thirty   Six Million, Eight Hundred and Thirty-seven Thousand, Four Hundred and Thirty-eight Naira, Twenty Kobo).
