 October 1 protest: Ogun court restricts protesters to MKO Abiola Stadium, three other venues A High Court sitting in Abeokuta, Ogun State, has restricted members of the #FearlessInOctober protest groups in the state to the MKO Abiola Stadium in Abeokuta, Gateway International Stadium, Sagamu; Dipo Dina Stadium, Ijebu Ode, and Ansar-Ud-Deen Comprehensive High School, Ota. The court presided by Tajudeen. A.Okunsokan gave this order following an application brought by the Attorney-General of Ogun State in suit no AB/667/2024, and with Messers Afolabi Adeboye, Ifemosu Michael, Lekan Soneye (for themselves and members of the#FearlessInOctober protests); Bestman Okereafor (on behalf of the Progressive Students Movement), Francis Adeyanju (on behalf of the National Association of Nigerian Students) and Thomas Kehinde (on behalf of the National Association of Ogun Students), as respondents.                 EFCC,today tuesday,June 21,2016 arrigned Air Vice Marshal Alkali Mohammed Mamu,a former Air Officer Training Command and a member of the Committee for Procurement,Ministry of Defence,before Justice Salisu Garba of the FCT High Court sitting in Maitama,Abuja on a 3 count charge of bribery.Mamu,while being the Air Officer Training Command and member of Committee for Procurement under the Ministry of Defence,allegedly collected a cash gift in the sum of N5.9 million {five million,nine hundred thousand naira} for the purchase of a Range Rover Evoque,$300,000 {three hundred thousand US dollars} and two vehicles {Ford Expedition SUV and Jaguar XF Saloon} valued at N15million and N12 million respectively from Society D' Equipments Internationaux Nigeria Limited,a contractor with the Nigerian Air Force.The offence is contrary to section 17 {a} of the Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Offences Act,2000 and punishable under Section 17 {c} of the same Act.Justice

                                 Justice Candid Johnson of the Lagos State High Court sitting in Igbosere today,June 21,2016,struck out a motion filed against the EFCC by Azibola Robert,a cousin of the former President Goodluck Jonathan,asking the court to restrain the Commission from arresting,detaining or investigating him.The motion was struck out on grounds of lacking diligent prosecution.In the motion,Azibola requested for an order nullifying and setting aside the remand order obtained by the EFCC to remand him,an order directing the Commission to release him from custody,an order of perpetual injunction restraining the EFCC or any person whatsoever acting for/on behalf of the Commission from arresting or detaining him and demand of special damages in the sum of N200,000,000 {Two Hundred Million Naira Only}.Azibola is being investigated by the EFCC for suspicious contracts awarded to him by the former National Security Adviser to former President,Goodluck Jonathan.The investigatio

INSURANCE COMPANIES IS SET TO PAY EACH FAMILY OF THE VICTIMS OF EGYPT-AIR,$25,000.

                  According to Chairman of EgyptAir Holding Company Safwat Mesallam said that Insurance companies have agreed to give US$25,000 to each family of the victims of the EgyptAir flight MS802 crash,as an interim payment for the full compensation to be paid to families.Death certificates will be issued in the next two days he said,and the legalities settled concerning who will inherit the money.The full compensation will be determined by the rules of International insurance as applied in similar cases.More photos below.
