PSC PROMOTES OVER 8,000 POLICE OFFICERS. (PHOTO).

 PSC Promotes Over 8,000 Police Officers On Wednesday, the Police Service Commission (PSC) approved the promotion of 8,053 senior police officers. Earlier in the week, 11 Commissioners of Police were promoted to the rank of Assistant Inspectors General (AIGs), and 16 Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs) were elevated to the rank of Commissioners of Police (CPs). Additionally, 21 Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs) were promoted to DCPs, and 57 Chief Superintendents of Police (CSPs) moved up to Assistant Commissioners (ACPs). According to a statement by the PSC's spokesperson, Ikechukwu Ani, the total number of promotions included 1,348 Superintendents of Police (SPs) promoted to Chief Superintendents, 876 Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs) promoted to Superintendents, and 5,829 Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASPs) promoted to DSPs.                             Today wednesday,the Secretary to the Government of the Federation {SGF},Babachir David Lawal,could not rule out the possibility of the driver that drove the late Minister of State for Labour and Employment,James Ocholi,from facing prosecution for over speeding and not owning a driver's license.Speaking with the State House correspondents at the end of the Federal Executive Council {FEC} meeting,the SGF said that the final report on the accident will determine if Elegbede will be prosecuted.He said ''As to the issue of whether we would prosecute the driver,yes,Nigeria is not short of laws,the problem is that Nigerians find it very difficult to obey the laws.There is a speed limit in plaace and so if anybody chooses not to obey the traffic laws,of course,it is subject to prosecution by the agencies concerned.But as to this particular incidence,i think we will leave it until the final report o...

               The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission {EFCC} yesterday tuesday re-arraigned Mohammed Ahmed Katun,a former Assistant Director,Pension Account,Office of the Head of Service of the Federation,OHCSF,on a  1 2-count amended charge bordering on diversion of pension funds to tune of N8 1 .4 million before Justice A.R. NIGERIA & SWITZERLAND,HAVE SIGNED AN AGREEMENT THAT PAVES WAY FOR THE RETURN OF $300 MILLION ABACHA LOOT.

                        Vice President of Nigeria Yemi Osinbajo said yesterday tuesday that Nigeria and Switzerland have signed an agreement that paves the way for the return of more that $300 million confiscated from the family of the Nigeria's former military ruler,Sani Abacha.Laolu Akande,a spokesman for Nigerian Vice President Yemi Osinbajo,said in an emailed statement that Nigeria's attorney general signed a letter of intent,under the terms of which Switzerland will award Nigeria $32 1  million acquired by the Abacha family.Swiss authorities said the letter of intent was also signed by its head of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs,Didier Burkhalter and marks an important step toward the return of assets monitored by the world bank.Transparency International,a corruption watchdog,has accused Abacha of stealing up to $5 billion of public money during the five years he ran Nigeria as president from  1 993 un...

ABOUT 20 TONS OF DEAD FISH,APPEARED FLOATING ON A RIVER RECENTLY,IN CAPE TOWN.

                        According to sources, Z eekovlei residents have been warned not to eat any dead fish found in the area as the City of Cape Town has been collecting thousands of dead carp,believed to have died of natural causes.Approximately 20 tons of dead fish appeared floating on the vlei's surface last week.Investigations to confirm the cause of death are underway as samples taken show toxicity is not a cause of concern.More photos below.
