PSC PROMOTES OVER 8,000 POLICE OFFICERS. (PHOTO).

 PSC Promotes Over 8,000 Police Officers On Wednesday, the Police Service Commission (PSC) approved the promotion of 8,053 senior police officers. Earlier in the week, 11 Commissioners of Police were promoted to the rank of Assistant Inspectors General (AIGs), and 16 Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs) were elevated to the rank of Commissioners of Police (CPs). Additionally, 21 Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs) were promoted to DCPs, and 57 Chief Superintendents of Police (CSPs) moved up to Assistant Commissioners (ACPs). According to a statement by the PSC's spokesperson, Ikechukwu Ani, the total number of promotions included 1,348 Superintendents of Police (SPs) promoted to Chief Superintendents, 876 Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs) promoted to Superintendents, and 5,829 Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASPs) promoted to DSPs.  Court Jails Man in Gombe for N7.6m Fraud   Justice J.A. Kereng  of the Gombe State High Court, sitting in Gombe on Friday, May 10, 2024  convicted and sentenced one George Habu Nuhu to six months imprisonment for fraud.   Nuhu was prosecuted by the Gombe  Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC on a one-count charge of intent to defraud.   The charge reads: “That you George Habu Nuhu between March 2018 and November 2019 at Gombe, Gombe State within the jurisdiction of this honourable court with intent to defraud obtained the aggregate sum of N7,678,000 (Seven Million, Six Hundred and Seventy-eight Thousand Naira) property of Shehu Makama which your claimed  that the money was payment for the "madrid timber log" and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 320 of the Penal Code Law and punishable under Section 322 of the same Law.”   He pleaded “guilty” to  the charge when it was read to him upon which...

 Kaduna Government To Relocate 359 Schools Over Banditry The Kaduna State government has disclosed plans to merge a total of 359 schools over incessant activities of bandits which had resulted in cases of abduction and kidnapping in the state. Speaking at a stakeholders forum and the training of the Schools’ Protection Squad on Wednesday, Governor Uba Sani represented by his Chief of Staff,  Sani Kila, said the schools in vulnerable communities would be merged with those in safe locations, as part of measures to safeguard the schools and children from being attacked by bandits. According to him, the launched school protection squad under the Federal Government’s Safe School Initiative is aimed at securing schools,  children, and teachers from all forms of attacks by bandits and terrorists.  Man Kills Best Friend Over Unpaid 3 Million Naira Loan, Dumps Body Along Zaria-Kano Expressway Sadik Jubrin has confessed to the brutal murder of his closest friend, Bello Bukar, in a dispute over a substantial loan.  The tragic saga began when Sadik borrowed 3 million Naira from Bukar, with a promise to repay within a specified timeframe.  When Sadik failed to honor his commitment, tensions escalated, culminating in a savage act of violence.  Upon luring Bukar to his home, Sadik, accompanied by two hired assailants, brutally assaulted him, resulting in his death.  Sadik then disposed of the body along the Zaria-Kano road, using Bukar's car.  In his statement to the police, Sadik admitted to the crime and expressed readiness to face the consequences. Rivers State University (RSU) reinstates former VC, Professor Fakae, as Lecturer. According to another source: Rivers State University reinstates Apostle Prof B.B. Fakae as a Professor/Lecturer of the institution.  This is coming after a very long battle of injustice and unfair treatment to the university Don.  More details later.

 Federal University Lokoja  lecturer, Dr Theodore from the department of ELS, was caught in the act of trying to get intimate with a 300l student. According to another source: Mr Theodore has been disturbing this female student for sex. She didn't agree so he failed her in his course. She told her Dad who is a police officer and they planned to set him up. She agreed to meet him and he asked her to come to his house. When baba was in boxers about to start work, Dem nab am took him to school in boxers... He is currently in DSS custody....  EFCC Arrests 44 Suspected Internet Fraudsters in  Calabar           Investigators at the Uyo Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, have arrested forty-four(44) suspected internet fraudsters.   The suspected fraudsters were arrested in an early morning sting operation on Thursday, May 9, 2024, at Satellite town, Tinapa junction and  parliamentary extension areas of Calabar in Cross River State.  Items recovered from them include six exotic cars, 16 laptops and 38 mobile phones.  N80.2billion Alleged Fraud:  Court Insists on Yahya Bello’s Appearance for  Arraignment Justice Emeka Nwite of the Federal High Court, Maitama, Abuja on Friday, May 10, insisted on the  physical appearance of the former governor of Kogi State, Mr Yahaya Adoza Bello for arraignment before any of his applications can be entertained by the court. The judge further held that,  Bello,  who is facing prosecution by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC on an alleged N80.2billion fraud,  is acting in disrespect and contempt of the court by resisting lawful arraignment and as such lacks any entitlement for his applications to be heard by the same court.  Mahamat Deby declared winner of Chad’s presidential poll Chad’s military leader, Mahamat Deby Itno, has been declared winner of the country’s presidential election, according to provisional results released Thursday. The Chadian National Election Management Agency said on Thursday that Déby won the May 6 election with over 61 percent of the votes cast, to beat Succès Masra, the incumbent prime minister and main opponent, who was said to have received 18.5 percent. The victory allows Déby, the incumbent, to hold onto the presidency, and eliminates the chance of a runoff which would have happened had no candidate received more than 50 percent of the votes. Déby’s victory also means his family will continue its 34-year dynasty.

 Jigawa Rep member, Isa Dogonyaro dies A member of the House of Representatives from Jigawa state, Isa Dogonyaro has died. The first-time lawmaker, who was the vice chairman of the House Committee on HIV/AIDS and Malaria control in the 10th Assembly, reportedly died on Friday morning in Abuja after a brief illness. The spokesman of the House, Akintunde Rotimi, confirmed the death of the 46-year-old lawmaker The statement confirming the death reads: “It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Hon.  Bandits storm Kogi varsity, abduct students Bandits, on Thursday night, stormed the Confluence University of Science and Technology, CUSTEC, Osara, Okene in Kogi State, and kidnapped some students. According to the News Agency of Nigeria, an eyewitness said the bandits swooped on the university around 9:00 pm while the students were reading for their upcoming exams. The source said that the bandits came in through the bush, went into three lecture halls and began to shoot into the air to scare the students. “They trapped the students inside the halls and started taking them; the school was thrown into total confusion as fear-stricken students in other halls scurried to safety, scampering in various directions. “By the time local security guards and the conventional security men at the gate engaged the bandits, they had already succeeded in abducting some students. “But the efforts minimised the damage as the attackers didn’t go beyond the first three halls,” the source said. NAIRA DEPRECIATION CONTINUES AS DOLLAR SUPPLY FALLS TO ALL-TIKE LOW AT DOREX MARKET. (PHOTO).

 Naira depreciation continues as dollar supply falls to all-time low at forex market Naira depreciation continued as US dollar transactions at the official foreign exchange market dropped to an all-time low of $84.38 million. This is according to FMDQ data at the close of work on Thursday. The day-to-day FX supply turnover dropped from $160.77 million on Tuesday to $84.38 million on Thursday. Consequently, the Naira further dipped to N1459.73 per dollar on Thursday from N1416.57 on Wednesday. This represents an N43.17 depreciation against the dollar at the official foreign exchange market. Similarly, the Naira dropped to N1,450 per dollar on Thursday in the parallel market section, compared to N1,438 the previous day. This brings the gap between the official and parallel markets to N9.73. Naira’s depreciation has been consistent for days now in the FX market. The country’s forex instability has persisted despite the recent surge in foreign reserves by $262 million.
