Abia State Community Policing Vigilante has arrested an electric cable thief, simply identified as Samuel, while vandalizing power installations along Isi Court-Ikputu road in Isiala Ngwa area. While two out of the three thieves escaped with their operational tricycle, the leader of the syndicate identified as Samuel, from Ebonyi State was apprehended by the Community Policing Vigilante. The arrest of the suspect was made known by the Commander of Abia State Community Policing Vigilante in the area, K.C. Martins. Martins, who said that efforts have been intensified by his men to arrest the two fleeing members of the criminal gang, commended Governor Alex Otti’s administration’s determination protecting the lives and property of the people in the State. Sonny Echono had visited the Federal University of Health Sciences, Otukpo, Benue State with a pledge to support the institution. He said this is to ensure maximum productivity and efficiency across the entire 16 local government councils of the state. More to that, the move, he believed, would enable all the HOLGA to contribute to the transformation of their local government of origin. ICPC arraigns Assistant Director, other over Employment Scam An Assistant Director in the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation (OAGF), Mr. Yildiyel Musa Takat and an Administration Officer at the National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA), Mr. Nankpat Dukbong have been arraigned by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), over allegations of fraud, employment scam and conspiracy. The duo were brought before Honourable Justice O. A. Musa of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court 7, sitting in Jabi, Abuja, via a Charge No: CR/151/2022. In a 6-count charge, ICPC accused the defendants of conspiracy, abuse of office and defrauding unsuspecting job seekers to the tune of Two Million, Nine Hundred Thousand Naira (N2,900,000).

Tinubu's ministerial list not yet ready – Alake  The presidency has said that President Bola Tinubu‘s ministerial list is not ready. The Special Adviser to the President on Special Duties, Communications and Strategy, Dele Alake who addressed journalists on Thursday, July 6, asked Nigerians to disregard rumours surrounding the awaited ministerial list. Alake said;  “About the ministerial list, there is no iota of truth in all of those things,” Alake said. “When the President is good and ready, you will be the first to know about his intentions. “I can tell you all of those things you’ve been reading in the media are mere fabrications. This is an executive presidency; we’re not running a parliamentary system. So the President, the bucks stops on his table, and he decides when it’s fit and proper for him to make his cabinet list.”

Find lasting solution to insecurity in South East, House of Reps tells Tinubu The House of Representatives has urged the President Bola Tinubu-led administration to consult with political, traditional and religious leaders in the South-East geopolitical zone to find a lasting solution to the insecurity in the area. The call by the lawmakers came a day after gunmen attacked Ishieke Daily Market located in the Ebonyi Local Government Area of Ebonyi State on Tuesday. The resolution of the House followed a motion by a member of the Green Chamber, Eze Nwachukwu, on the need to forestall further killings in Ebonyi State. On Tuesday, gunmen enforcing a sit-at-home order by the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) scared citizens particularly traders around Ishieke and Ukwuachi suburbs of Abakaliki, the capital of Ebonyi State. Their actions caused panic as people took to their heels for safety.

35-year-old habitual rapist arrested for allegedly raping five minors in Adamawa Men of the Adamawa state police command have arrested a 35-year-old habitual r@pist identified as Wilson Sunday, for allegedly r@ping five minors between the ages of eight to fourteen in Bachure ,Yola North Local Government Area. A statement released by the spokesperson of the command, SP Yahaya Nguroje, said the suspect who resides in Damilu in Yola North allegedly committed the crime from January 2023 and subsequently continued. Nguroje said the suspect lured the victims into an uncompleted buildings away from the eyes of the public and took advantage of them while they were on their way going or returning from school and had unlawful c@rnal knowledge of them. Justice Dije Aboki has been confirmed Kano state house of assembly as the substantive Chief Judge of the North-West state.  The lawmakers confirmed her appointment on Thursday, July 6, after the Speaker, Ismail Falgore read a letter forwarded by Governor Abba Kabir-Yusuf during Thursday’s plenary. Kano State House of Assembly also confirmed three more commissioner-nominees sent to the Assembly by Gov. Kabir-Yusuf. The nominees screened were Ibrahim Fagge, Ibrahim Namadi and Amina Abdullahi-Sani.

It's important to note that Miss Mmesoma Ejike went to the office of the Anambra State Commissioner for Education, Professor Ngozi Chuma-Udeh with her UTME result to protest that the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) didn't recognise her as the candidate with the highest score.  The Commissioner in turn called JAMB to confirm her claim but she was told that Mmesoma's result was forged. President Tinubu Seeks Reps’ Confirmation Of Newly Appointed Service Chiefs July 6, 2023      President Bola Tinubu has written to the House of Representatives to request the confirmation of the newly appointed Service Chiefs. Recall that the president sacked the former service chiefs and immediately appointed their replacement when both chambers of the National were on recess. The service chiefs to be confirmed are: Maj. Gen. C.G Musa, Chief of Defence Staff; Maj. T. A Lagbaja, Chief of Army Staff; Rear Admirral E. A Ogalla Chief of Naval Staff and AVM H.B Abubakar, Chief of Air Staff. In a letter addressed to the Speaker of the House, Tajudeen Abbas, and read at plenary on Thursday, the president asked the lawmakers to expeditiously confirm the appointment of the service chiefs. The president in the letter said that the request was in compliance with the provisions of Section 18(1) of the Armed Forces Act. Cap A20 Laws the Federation of Nigeria 2004.
