 Taraba: Police Commissioner Calls for Peaceful Coexistence Between Herders and Farmers The Taraba State Commissioner of Police, Ukachi Peter Opara, has urged for greater peace and understanding between herders and farmers in the state. During a meeting with the leadership of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) in Jalingo on Thursday, Opara highlighted the importance of dialogue and cooperation for long-term development. He emphasized that peaceful coexistence between these groups is crucial for their livelihoods and for fostering economic growth and stability in the state and the nation. Opara commended MACBAN for its readiness to collaborate with the police in promoting peace and security in Taraba. He reassured that the police would continue to work diligently to protect lives and property and pledged to leave no stone unturned in maintaining peace and stability in the state.               A Nigerian woman residing in India has been arrested by the authorities for stabbing her partner to death. The lady identified as Evelyn Uzodinma was arrested for killing her boyfriend, a Nigerian named Godfrey Izzu Chibueze. Evelyn is alleged to have stabbed Godfrey, 30, during a quarrel outside their house in west Delhi on Saturday afternoon (read here). She, however, rushed him to a hospital but Godfrey died of excessive bleeding. The suspect was taken into custody at the hospital and it was caught on camera. Chibueze, who ran a garments business, and Evelyn, who operated a food stall, were live-in couples and were known to quarrel often. Investigation revealed that the couple had a fight around 2 p.m. on Saturday before Godfrey’s death. Neighbours also told police they saw the couple fighting and punching each other.                                                On Monday when members of the public learnt that Ifeanyi Dike, the man who allegedly raped, killed and removed vital organs of an eight-year-old girl, Victory Chikamso, had escaped from the police custody. The father of the victim, Dr. Ernest Nmezuwuba, who was at the State Criminal Investigation Department when the suspected murderer and ritual killer escaped from police custody, said Dike took advantage of the darkness within the SCID’s premises to escape. EFCC ARRAIGNS ONE OVER DUD CHEQUE YESTERDAY.{PHOTOS}.

                                                  The EFCC, Kaduna Zonal Office today, 21st August 21, 2017 arraigned one Jacob Jerome Mona before Justice K.N Kunaza at the State High Court, Bauchi on a three count charge for the offence of Conspiracy, Criminal Breach of Trust and Issuance of dud cheque to the tune of Eight Million Naira. Jacob who is the Managing Director Tari Oil and Gas Limited sometimes in 2016 recieved a total of 40,000 litres of diesel valued at Eight Million Naira of which he issued a post dated cheque to one Abdullahi Mohammed to present on his behalf. The cheque was returned unpaid due to insufficient funds in Jacob's account and efforts to get him pay the beneficiary proved futile. The case has been adjourned to 29th August, 2017 for commencement of trial.One more photo below.

AMBODE CHARGES NEWLY ELECTED LG CHAIRMEN TO ENSURE ALL-INCLUSIVE GOVERNANCE.

             The Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode has urged newly elected Chairmen and Vice Chairmen of the 20 Local Governments and 37 Local Council Development Areas to be ambassadors of an all-inclusive government being championed and demonstrated at the State level. He said that the newly elected political heads in all the 57 Local Councils in Lagos must identify with the culture of good governance already exemplified by his administration where adequate attention is being paid to the needs of people at the grassroots.
