APPLE'S STATEMENT ON MINERALS MUST BE 'VERIFIED'-DRC. (PHOTO).

 Apple's statement on minerals must be 'verified': DRC International lawyers for the Democratic Republic of Congo welcomed Apple's decision to stop sourcing minerals from there due to worsening conflict, but said they would press ahead with their cases against the company in Europe. Criminal complaints were filed against Apple subsidiaries in France and Belgium this week on behalf of DR Congo, accusing the tech firm of using conflict minerals in its supply chain, Reuters reported. DR Congo is a major source of tin, tantalum and tungsten, so-called 3T minerals used in computers and mobile phones. But some artisanal mines are run by armed groups involved in massacres, rapes and other crimes, say UN experts and rights groups. 'Satisfaction and caution' Apple said on Tuesday that it strongly disputes the claims and has told suppliers they must not use the minerals in question sourced from DR Congo or Rwanda.               Lagos State Governor,Mr Akinwunmi Ambode today monday said that the State would require at least $30billion dollars to adequately deliver 30 most impactful infrastructural projects over the next five years.The Governor,who spoke shortly before inaugurating a 12-member Economic Advisory Committee at the Lagos House,Ikeja,said the projected figure represents about $6billion per annum,whereas the provision for capital projects in the 2017 budget is pegged at N500billion {about $1.6billion}.                                                                                 A Federal High Court,siting in Benin-City,Edo State today February 6,2017 convicted and sentenced to two years imprisonment one Amegor Ovenseri for false representation and obtaining by false pretence. Amegor was first arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission,EFCC,on 21st day of February,2013 on a two count charge bordering on possession of fraudulent documents containing false pretences and Obtaining by false pretence.Amergor upon arraignment pleaded not guilty to the charge.After diligent prosecution by the EFCC,Justice P.I. LAGOS CLAMPS DOWN ON ILLEGAL ABATTOIRS,CATTLE MARKETS IN IKORODU,BADAGRY.

                No fewer than 24 butchers and cattle traders have been arrested for offences bordering on illegal operations in a clamp-down exercise carried out over the weekend against illegal abattoirs,slaughter slabs and cattle markets by the Lagos State Government.Speaking with newsmen after the exercise,the Commissioner for Agriculture,Mr Oluwatoyin Suarau explained that the exercise was carried out in Ikorodu and Badagry areas of the State by the Monitoring,Enforcement and Compliance Unit on Abattoirs and Slaughter Slabs,Stray Animals,Meat and Live Cattle Transportation and Regulation of Veterinary Premises.
