 PSC Promotes Over 8,000 Police Officers On Wednesday, the Police Service Commission (PSC) approved the promotion of 8,053 senior police officers. Earlier in the week, 11 Commissioners of Police were promoted to the rank of Assistant Inspectors General (AIGs), and 16 Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs) were elevated to the rank of Commissioners of Police (CPs). Additionally, 21 Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs) were promoted to DCPs, and 57 Chief Superintendents of Police (CSPs) moved up to Assistant Commissioners (ACPs). According to a statement by the PSC's spokesperson, Ikechukwu Ani, the total number of promotions included 1,348 Superintendents of Police (SPs) promoted to Chief Superintendents, 876 Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs) promoted to Superintendents, and 5,829 Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASPs) promoted to DSPs. PSG prepare €120m Osimhen bid Paris Saint-Germain are preparing to launch a second bid of €120m for Nigerian forward Victor Osimhen. The French champions had their initial offer of €100m for Osimhen rejected in June. A family source who wrote to LIB, said Ms Anyaibe left the house in a hurry, stating that she wanted to go meet a client. However, that was the last time anyone saw or heard from her. Her phone has since been unreachable. ‘’My sister has been missing for over 24hours now.  Electricity tariff increase looms as discos apply for rate review 14th Jul 2023  Eleven successor electricity companies have applied for a review of their respective electricity tariffs, the Federal Government has disclosed. Disclosing this through a notice published by the Nigeria Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) on Friday, the Federal Government said the request for rate review is premised on the need to incorporate changes in macroeconomic parameters and other factors affecting the quality of service, operations and sustainability of the companies. In the notice obtained by Channels Television, NERC stated that Discos request for rate review is in pursuant to Section 116 (1) and 2(a&b) of the Electricity Act 2023 and other extant rules. A recent attempt by some electricity distribution companies to hike tariff from July 1 had caused uproar and met strong resistance from Nigerians. Bayelsa to relocate courts moved to its capital, Yenagoa due to militancy 14th Jul 2023  Justice Matilda Ayemieye, the new Chief Judge of Bayelsa says that the courts earlier moved to the state capital due to insecurity caused by militancy is her major priority. Ayemieye made the pledge shortly after being sworn in as the fourth substantive Chief Judge of Bayelsa after serving in acting capacity for about six months. According to her, the policy is premised on the return of peace to all parts of the state in the tenure of the Gov Douye Diri led administration in the state in the last three and half years. “My priority is to take justice closer to the people by relocating all the courts that were earlier moved to the capital in the days of militancy many years ago. “This is because militancy has drastically reduced due to the measures put in place by the present administration in Bayelsa which has created the enabling environment to take these courts closer to the people," she said...

UK increases visa fees, health surcharge for Nigerians, others 14th Jul 2023  British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has announced an increase in visa application fee paid by immigrants. The announcement came after a speech regarding an increase in public sector wages. Sunak confirmed that part of the funding for the wage increase will be raised from the foreign migrants who come to the United Kingdom to live and work, the British media said. He also said the surcharge paid for the state-funded national health service (NHS) by visa applicants by immigrants will “increase significantly”. The PM, had said a few weeks earlier, at the United States embassy that he would be increasing fees for processing non-immigrant visa (NIV) applications. Nigeria Customs Service ,(NCS) Kwara Area Command says it has generated the total sum of Six Billion, Two Hundred and Forty Six Million Four Hundred and Eighty-Five Thousand Eight Hundred and Twenty -Seven Naira Ninety -Seven kobo(N6,246,485,827.97) between April and June this year. The State Controller of the service ,Comptroller Kehinde Ilesanmi stated this while speaking with Newsmen on the achievement of the command in Ilorin. He said the total of N9.8 Billion naira was remitted to federation account between January and June this year when he took over the mantle of leadership. Comptroller Ilesanmi noted that the said amount is above what was collected from (January-June 2022) with the sum of N5.7B. Jigawa State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps NSCDC says it has arrested a 25 year Danladi Umar of Tashar Musawa, Zaria local government areas Kaduna State and Abdurrahman Khalid 35 years of Abuja Quarters, Gumel local government area of Jigawa State on a suspected case of counterfeiting and criminal conspiracy contrary to sections 369 and  96 and punishable under section 329 and 97 of the penal code law of the state. The Public Relations Officer of the Command CSC Adamu Shehu disclosed this to Radio Nigeria in Dutse, the state capital. NAF TRAINER AIRCRAFT CRASHES IN BENUE A Nigerian Air Force FT-7NI trainer aircraft has crashed at Makurdi, Benue State, while on a routine training exercise. Two pilots on board survived the crash after successfully ejecting from the aircraft. Director of Public Relations and Information Nigerian Air Force Edward Gabkwet said no loss of lives or damage to any property around the area of impact.  Both pilots are currently under observation at NAF Base Hospital, Makurdi. Meanwhile, the Chief of Air Staff, Air Vice Marshal Hasan Abubakar, has constituted a Board of Inquiry to determine the immediate and remote cause of the crash.
