PSC PROMOTES OVER 8,000 POLICE OFFICERS. (PHOTO).

 PSC Promotes Over 8,000 Police Officers On Wednesday, the Police Service Commission (PSC) approved the promotion of 8,053 senior police officers. Earlier in the week, 11 Commissioners of Police were promoted to the rank of Assistant Inspectors General (AIGs), and 16 Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs) were elevated to the rank of Commissioners of Police (CPs). Additionally, 21 Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs) were promoted to DCPs, and 57 Chief Superintendents of Police (CSPs) moved up to Assistant Commissioners (ACPs). According to a statement by the PSC's spokesperson, Ikechukwu Ani, the total number of promotions included 1,348 Superintendents of Police (SPs) promoted to Chief Superintendents, 876 Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs) promoted to Superintendents, and 5,829 Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASPs) promoted to DSPs. FRSC, DRIVING SCHOOL ASSOCIATION ADOPTS RESOLUTIONS ON ROAD SAFETY AND TRAINING OF DRIVERS IN NIGERIA.{PHOTO}.#PRESS RELEASE.

        One of the aims and objectives of the FRSC is to ensure road safety and quality drivers on the road. And to avoid road crashes and hitches, The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and Driving School Associations (DSA) have adopted resolutions towards promotion of quality drivers training and ensuring safety on Nigeria roads. The Corps Marshal, Dr Boboye Oyeyemi, and representatives of Driving School Associations (DSA) gave these resolutions at the meeting held on Friday in Abuja. THREE FEARED DEAD AS IPOB MEMBERS AND SECURITY AGENTS CLASHED IN ENUGU.{PHOTOS}.

      A clash between members of the Indigenous People of Biafra IPOB and operatives of the Department of State Security DSS has left at least three persons dead and several others injured at Emene, Enugu state today August 23. According to reports, trouble started at about 7:00am when some policemen invaded Community Secondary School in Emene where members of the group were meeting to disperse and arrest them. The attempt was resisted, with the IPOB members reportedly overpowering the security operatives. In a swift reaction, a large reinforcement of security agents was called and over a dozen patrol vans loaded with armed policemen, army, and DSS personnel arrived at the scene and faced the Biafran agitators.          Some succour has come the way of the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Zonkwa, Zangon-Kataf Local Government Area (LGA) and Mariri in Lere LGA of Kaduna State as the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) commenced 3-day medical outreach at each of the 2 locations for victims of recent armed banditry attacks in the State. The free medical services, an initiative of the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, began today, 23 August 2020, and is aimed at enhancing good civil-military relations between the NAF and host communities as well as alleviating the hardship being experienced by the IDPs who are currently camped at Mercy IDP Camp in Zonkwa and the Mariri IDP Camp in Lere LGA. LAGOS BEGINS CONSTRUCTION OF 1KM DRAINAGE AT IKORODU FISH FARM ESTATE.{PHOTOS}.#PRESS RELEASE.

         Lagos State Government has commenced the construction of a one-kilometre drainage system within the premises of the Ikorodu Fish Farm Estate in Odogunyan to tackle the issues that may arise from flooding and its many impacts. The State Acting Commissioner for Agriculture, Ms. Abisola Olusanya, who made this known over the weekend while on an inspection tour of the Farm Estate, explained that the construction of the drainage system would go a long way in improving the productivity of the Farm Estate as crop growth rates and fish production would be maximised. She said that the drainage system would control water bodies, prevent ponding, gather excess water from the land area as well as direct the water away from the farm to the outlet point where it is drains out into the canal.         The police have re-arrested Sunday Shodipe, the prime suspect in the series of ritual killings at the Akinyele Local government Area of Oyo State. The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Mr Olugbenga Fadeyi, confirmed this to newsmen on Sunday. The Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, had dispatched additional investigative aids to Oyo State, including crack detectives to track down the fleeing serial killer. The fugitive, who is the prime suspect in the multiple murder of innocent citizens at Akinyele Local Government Area, Moniya, Ibadan, Oyo State, had escaped from police custody in suspicious circumstances.          The Kaduna state government has filed criminal charges against Abiodun Ogunyemi, bishop of Zaria diocese, Anglican communion, over “defamatory remarks” made against Nasir el-Rufai, the governor. Ogunyemi was arraigned before a chief magistrate’s court in Kaduna on charges bordering on criminal defamation, injurious falsehood and criminal int imidation. The bishop had in a statement in November 2019, criticised the governor over the planned demolition of St George Cathedral in Zaria. Ogunyemi had said the governor was being groomed to take over from President Muhammadu Buhari in 2023 but he would never be president. The government has since rescinded on its plans to demolish the 110-year-old cathedral because of its historical value. After several interrogations from the police, Ogunyemi was arraigned with the approval of the ministry of justice. He pleaded not guilty and was granted bail.
