 Zamfara Governor’s Wife Facilitates Marriage for 100 Orphans, Offers Support to Grooms The wife of the Zamfara State Governor, Huriyya Dauda Lawal, has overseen the marriage of 100 orphaned girls in the state. The brides, who were well cared for prior to the ceremony, received full attention for their beautification. Each bride’s dowry, amounting to 151,000 Naira, was covered by the Governor’s wife. In addition, Huriyya Dauda Lawal provided essential household items, including furniture such as cushions, beds, wardrobes, mattresses, and kitchen utensils. Furthermore, she offered financial assistance of N50,000 to each groom to help them start their businesses and achieve self-sufficiency. Hajiya Lawal encouraged the brides to respect their husbands and practice patience. She also assured them that the Zakkat and Endowment Board would be available to offer support should any marital issues arise.

President Muhammadu Buhari Tuesday said the establishment of modular refineries in the country will make petroleum products available in the country and eliminate importation. The President spoke at the virtual inauguration of the 5,000 barrels per day Waltersmith modular refinery in Ibigwe, Imo State, as well as the Ground-Breaking Ceremony for the Phase-2 works to expand the capacity of the refinery to 50,000 barrels/day. President Buhari said the deployment of modular refineries was one of the four key elements of his administration’s Refinery Roadmap rolled out in 2018, adding that its implementation will make Nigeria a net exporter of petroleum products. He expressed delight that Waltersmith refinery in Ohaji Egbema Local Government Area of Imo State was coming on stream within two years of the commencement of the Roadmap, after many years of granting licenses for the establishment of modular refineries with nothing to show for it.   The Lagos Zonal Office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Thursday, November 12, 2020, arraigned a lawyer, Taiwo Oreagba, before Justice Sherifah Solebo of the Special Offences Court sitting in Ikeja, Lagos on a two-count charge bordering on alleged corrupt demand and obtaining by false pretence to the tune of N4,000,000.00( Four Million Naira). The defendant, who is a counsel to one Kelechi Uka currently under investigation by the Commission, allegedly collected the sum of N4, 000,000.00(Four Million Naira) from one Henry Umoh supposedly to influence officers of the Commission to secure the release of her client( Uka).   Justice Muhammad Tukur of State High Court, Kaduna today November 24, convicted and sentenced the duo of Maryam Muhammad Jallo and Rukaiya Muhammad Jallo to ten years imprisonment for offences that border on criminal breach of trust. The pair who are blood sisters were prosecuted on an amended one count charge by the Kaduna Zonal office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC. The charge reads, “that you Maryam Jallo and Rukaiya Jallo on the 30th day of March, 2019 in Kaduna within the judicial division of this Honourable Court, while being entrusted with the sum of One Million Seven Hundred Thousand Naira ( N1,700,000) only by one Alhaji Badamasi Shanono and Adio Bukar Hashia for medical treatment of one Usman Umar dishonestly misappropriated same and you thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 293 of the Kaduna State Penal Code Law, 2017 and punishable under Section 294 of the Same Law”. EFCC RECEIVES FOUR SUSPECTED OIL THIEVES FROM NAVY.{PHOTOS}.#PRESS RELEASE.

  The Port Harcourt Zonal Office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Tuesday, November 24, 2020 received four suspected oil thieves from the Nigeria Navy. The suspects: Ebenezer Afonka( captain); Bernard Umor (engineer), Kingsley Monday, and Ishmael Willy were handed over to the Commission alongside a vessel: MV Captain Samuel. Commander S. G Muhammed, who handed over the suspects and the vessel, said they were arrested on October 24, 2020 by Nigeria Navy Ship (NNS Pathfinder), for suspected involvement in illegal oil bunkering. At the time of arrest, the vessel was laden with an unspecified quantity of substance suspected to be illegally refined Automotive Gas Oil (AGO/diesel).
