PSC PROMOTES OVER 8,000 POLICE OFFICERS. (PHOTO).

 PSC Promotes Over 8,000 Police Officers On Wednesday, the Police Service Commission (PSC) approved the promotion of 8,053 senior police officers. Earlier in the week, 11 Commissioners of Police were promoted to the rank of Assistant Inspectors General (AIGs), and 16 Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs) were elevated to the rank of Commissioners of Police (CPs). Additionally, 21 Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs) were promoted to DCPs, and 57 Chief Superintendents of Police (CSPs) moved up to Assistant Commissioners (ACPs). According to a statement by the PSC's spokesperson, Ikechukwu Ani, the total number of promotions included 1,348 Superintendents of Police (SPs) promoted to Chief Superintendents, 876 Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs) promoted to Superintendents, and 5,829 Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASPs) promoted to DSPs. Operatives of the Uyo Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC, today October 27, 2021 arrested seven internet fraud suspects, including one Peter Ugochukwu, a supposed businessman who claims he deals in shoes and clothes, at Umuahia, Abia State. The other six suspects are; George Izuchukwu, Okeke Desmond, Ekwonna Wisdom, Ejikeme Godspower, Nwachukwu Samuel and Justin Tochi.

The new Secretary to the EFCC, Dr. George Ekpungu today, Wednesday October 27, 2021 formally assumed office. The Commission made the appeal at a-one-day voter education and interaction with heads of religious bodies in Anambra State. KATSINA POLICE ARREST SUSPECTED BANDIT AGENT WITH 32 LITRES OF PETROL CONCEALED IN TRAVELLING BAG.[PHOTOS]

Katsina State Police Command has arrested a 37-year-old man, Abdulkareem Muhammed, with thirty-two litres of petrol in 3 polythene bags and concealed in a travelling bag. Spokesman of the command, SP Gambo Isah, who paraded the suspect before newsmen at the Command Headquarters on Tuesday, said he was arrested along the Katsina-Jibiya road by officers on patrol. According to the PPRO, the suspect from afar seemed to be travelling with clothes in a travelling bag he was carrying, but upon inspection officers discovered 3 polythene bags containing 32 litres of petrol. SP Isah said the feat is in continuation of the enforcement of the security challenges containment order, banning sales of petrol in Jerry cans and polythene bags. The suspect however denied that the products were meant for bandits, but for resale in his village. He further pleaded for mercy and promised to stop if let off the hook. More photos below.

The frustrations being experienced by users of federal roads in Ekiti area of the federation have come to the fore. Ado-Ilawe-Igbara-Oke and Ado-Ikere-Akure roads didn’t fare better, as commuters were also stranded on the roads due to the number of trucks plying it, in addition to the poor state of roads, which worsened commuters’ experience Speaking on the issue, chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Federal Road Maintenance Agency, Femi Bamisile, said that the N460bn budgeted for construction and maintenance of federal roads in the 2021 budget and the N30bn allocated to FERMA have not been having positive effects on Nigerian roads. HERDSMAN SENTENCED TO LIFE IMPRISONMENT IN EKITI FOR GRAZING AND SHOOTING FARMER.{PHOTO}

An Ekiti State High Court sitting in Ado Ekiti on Tuesday sentenced a 32-year-old herder, Muhammadu Abubakar, to life imprisonment for attempted murder. Abubakar was tried and found guilty on two counts of attempted murder and unlawful possession of firearms. The charge read in part, “On April 9, 2019, at Aba Cotonou, Omu Ekiti, in the Oye Local Government Area of Ekiti State, the defendant did attempt to murder one Chief Samuel Amaa and others. Found in his possession were a gun and cartridges on the same day.” The police prosecutor, Taiwo Ajibulu, said the offences were contrary to and punishable under Section 320 of the Criminal Code Law, Cap. C16 Laws of Ekiti State, 2012, and Section 3 (1) of the Robbery and Firearms (Special Provision) Act, Cap.R11, Vol.14, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004. The prosecutor called four witnesses. A GHANAIAN WOMAN HAS BEEN JAILED FOR FAKING HER OWN KIDNAP IN TAKORADI IN WESTERN REGION.{PHOTOS}.

  29-year-old Joana Krah was on Tuesday October 26, sentenced to six-years in prison by the Takoradi Harbour Circuit Court A on two counts of deceiving a public officer and publication of false news. Ms Krah faked her abduction on October 22 in a bid to extort ¢5,000 from a relative. Police say she conspired with two others to orchestrate the act after which a call was placed to her godfather demanding the ransom. After she pleaded guilty to the offences on Monday, October 25, 2021, she was arraigned before the court presided over by Michael Kojo Ampadu. For the publication of false news, she was sentenced to two years in prison and for the charge of deceiving a public officer, she was sentenced to six years in prison to bring the total sentence to 8-years. However, both sentences are to run concurrently and so she is to spend six years in prison.
