 Taraba: Police Commissioner Calls for Peaceful Coexistence Between Herders and Farmers The Taraba State Commissioner of Police, Ukachi Peter Opara, has urged for greater peace and understanding between herders and farmers in the state. During a meeting with the leadership of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) in Jalingo on Thursday, Opara highlighted the importance of dialogue and cooperation for long-term development. He emphasized that peaceful coexistence between these groups is crucial for their livelihoods and for fostering economic growth and stability in the state and the nation. Opara commended MACBAN for its readiness to collaborate with the police in promoting peace and security in Taraba. PVCs DISTRIBUTION FOR REGISTERED VOTERS YET TO COLLECT,COMMENCES IN LAGOS STATE FOR 5 SATURDAYS.

                Registered voters in Lagos State who are yet to collect their Permanent Voter Cards now have another opportunity to do so as the cards will b made available for collection by their owners on five Satrudays starting from April 22,2017,at each of the 245 Registration Area Centres {RACs} of the State.This arrangement is sequel to a partnership between the Lagos office of the Independent National Electoral Commission {INEC} and the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission {LASIEC}According to a report from INEC,about 1.4 million Permanent Voter Cards are still awaiting collection by registered voters in Lagos State.This huge number of PVCs that are yet to be collected by their owners prompted the partnership between INEC and LASIEC so that such a huge number of eligible registered voters might not be disenfranchised in the forthcoming elections into the 57 Local Governments/Local Council Development Areas of the State.The distribut...

LAGOS RELEASES N1.6 BILLION TO 311 RETIREES.

                    The Lagos State Government has released the sum of N1.6 billion as benefit payment to 311 retirees from the Mainstream Civil Service,local Governments,State Universal Basic Education Board {SUBEB},Teachers Establishments and Pemsions Office {TEPO} and other Parastatals of Government for the month of April.The State Commissioner for Establishments,Training and Pensions,Dr Benson Oke Akintola,who disclosed this while speaking at the 38th Retirement Benefit Bond Presentation Ceremony recently at NECA House Auditorium,Ikeja said Governor Akinwunmi Ambode has consistently demonstrated his commitment to the Post-Service welfare of its workers through the Lagos State Pension Commission {LASPEC}.He said the determination of ensuring retirees comfort was the reason for the consistent monthly contribution into the Retirement Savings Account of Public servants by the present administration,adding that it is accorded the same pri...

LABOUR UNIONS SEEK SPECIAL SALARY FOR ABUJA WORKERS.

               The Trade Union Congress {TUC} and the Nigerian Labour Union Congress {NLC} have called for a special salary for the employees residing in the Federal Capital Territory following the high cost of living in Abuja.The Union Leaders made the call yesterday Monday at the 2017 May Celebration in Abuja,with the Theme: ''Labour Relations in Economic Recession: An Appraisal''.Mr Amodu Olayinka,TUC FCT Chairman,said the Federal Government and the FCT Administration need to urgently create and adopt a special salary structure for workers residing in the capital territory.He said special salary would motivate and increase the morale of workers in Abuja as civil servants are the engine room off any government.Olayinka explained that the prevailing economic recession and high cost of living in the FCT made it imperative for government to create a special salary structure for employees residing in Abuja.According to him,the new injection of luxur...
