 Apple's statement on minerals must be 'verified': DRC International lawyers for the Democratic Republic of Congo welcomed Apple's decision to stop sourcing minerals from there due to worsening conflict, but said they would press ahead with their cases against the company in Europe. Criminal complaints were filed against Apple subsidiaries in France and Belgium this week on behalf of DR Congo, accusing the tech firm of using conflict minerals in its supply chain, Reuters reported. DR Congo is a major source of tin, tantalum and tungsten, so-called 3T minerals used in computers and mobile phones. But some artisanal mines are run by armed groups involved in massacres, rapes and other crimes, say UN experts and rights groups. 'Satisfaction and caution' Apple said on Tuesday that it strongly disputes the claims and has told suppliers they must not use the minerals in question sourced from DR Congo or Rwanda. El-Rufai Turns Lecturer On Governance, Economy  Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai has taught the Kashim Ibrahim Fellowship participants key concepts of governance and economy. For nine hours during the week, the governor held a workshop that took the Fellows through a discourse on McKinsey’s 7-S Framework, a powerful tool and model for Organizational Planning, Analysis, and Diagnosis. Kashim Ibrahim Fellowship (KIF) is a one-year non-partisan leadership training programme for young Nigerians between the age of 25-35 years. The one-year Fellowship aims to create a network of high-potential young Nigerians who are expected to rise to top leadership positions in the public and private sectors of the country. South East Governors To Start Joint Security Patrol In Major Highways Before December. South East Governors have concluded arrangements to commence joint twenty-four hour security patrol in all major highways in the zone before December first this year, as a way of beefing up the security network and restore normalcy in the area. This was contained in a communiqué issued by the South East Governors' Forum after their emergency meeting at Enugu state Government House. The meeting had in attendance five Governors in the zone, Governor of Ebonyi state, Engineer David Umahi, his Enugu counterpart, Right Hon. PDP CRISIS: I WON'T MEET ORTOM, SAYS AYU Against the backdrop of the long-running crisis rocking the party, the National chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Iyorchia Ayu has vowed he will not make move to meet Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue state. Ayu also turned down recommendation by Jemgbah PDP Elders to meet with Ortom to reach a truce. The PDP chairman is also from Jemgbah geo- political bloc. Addressing Jemgbah PDP elders Gboko on Saturday, Ayu turned down the suggestion to meet with Ortom, saying he has no problem with the Governor. Housewife Poisons Her Husband To D£ath In Borno, Says “I Hate Marriage” The Borno Police Command has arrested a 25-year-old housewife, Fatima Abubakar, for allegedly killing her husband, Goni Abbah with poison. The Commissioner Of Police, Mr Abdu Umar, who disclosed this to the News men in Maiduguri, on Sunday, October 30, said that the suspect was arrested on October 19 by men of the Command at Anguwan Doki. Umar said that the victim, who was the Chief Imam of the area, returned from the mosque when the suspect, who was the second wife, allegedly mixed poison in his food. The CP explained that as soon as Goni started eating, his condition deteriorated. According to him, the victim was immediately rushed to the State Specialist Hospital where he was given emergency medical attention,  but unfortunately, he later died when they returned home.
