 Apple's statement on minerals must be 'verified': DRC International lawyers for the Democratic Republic of Congo welcomed Apple's decision to stop sourcing minerals from there due to worsening conflict, but said they would press ahead with their cases against the company in Europe. Criminal complaints were filed against Apple subsidiaries in France and Belgium this week on behalf of DR Congo, accusing the tech firm of using conflict minerals in its supply chain, Reuters reported. DR Congo is a major source of tin, tantalum and tungsten, so-called 3T minerals used in computers and mobile phones. But some artisanal mines are run by armed groups involved in massacres, rapes and other crimes, say UN experts and rights groups. 'Satisfaction and caution' Apple said on Tuesday that it strongly disputes the claims and has told suppliers they must not use the minerals in question sourced from DR Congo or Rwanda. ACTRESS LILIAN GABRIEL RECOUNTS HOW SHE WAS DEFRAUDED BY A MAN WHO CLAIMED TO BE A MAN OF GOD.{PHOTO}.

Nigerian actress, Lilian Gabriel, has recounted how she was defrauded by a man who claimed to be a prophet in Asaba, the Delta state capital. In a viral video, the lady who did not state her name said she met a man somewhere in Asaba who told her he saw a vision for her. The man told her that since she is an orphan, God is about to wipe her tears and that she should bring her ATM card so he could pray on it as her miracle will come via a final breakthrough. She said she gave her card to him and he prayed on it and asked her to immediately place it back in her purse. Little did she know the supposed prophet had exchanged her ATM card for a fake card. She later started receiving debit alerts from her phone as the man who is a suspected fraudster had hacked into her account and made withdrawals of all her life savings.

SUSPECTED HOODLUMS SET ABLAZE A VEHICLE CONVEYING FOOD ITEMS IN ENUGU YESTERDAY.{PHOTOS}.

 Suspected hoodlums have set ablaze a vehicle conveying food items in Enugu State on Monday, September 27. The vehicle was set on fire during the sit-at-home declared by the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB). The vehicle conveying tomatoes, vegetables and other food items was burnt at Edem junction, Ibeagwa in Enugu East Local Government Area of the state. It was gathered that the vehicle was returning from the Ugwogo end of the Opi-Enugu by-pass when it was attacked. Sympathisers were said to have put a call to the State Fire Service, who eventually contained the inferno. A sympathiser said; “It’s a fairly huge loss which ought not to have occurred had our people reasoned very well before embarking on retrogressive actions such as this one.” Meanwhile, Enugu police Command, said nobody had been arrested so far in connection with the incident, adding that investigation had commenced. EX-GIRLFRIEND POISONED HER EX-PARTNER AND HIS FIANCEE DAYS TO THEIR WEDDING IN BRAZIL.{PHOTOS}.

 A jealous ex-girlfriend has been arrested for poisoning her former partner and his new fiancee with a 'tampered box of chocolates' just days before they were due to be married in Brazil. Dione Quirino, 35, and Amanda Cassia Lopes, 27, received a delivery of chocolates at home in Jaiba in the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais on Thursday September 23 ahead of their weekend wedding. The couple reportedly had the chocolates after assuming they were early wedding gift, not knowing they had ingested some kind of poison. According to news site G1, a total of five people - the bride and groom-to-be, two other adults and one two-year-old - were poisoned by the chocolates and were hospitalised after. The family dog, was also given a sweet or two as a treat and the pet died as a result. A woman whose name not disclosed due to the ongoing investigation, was arrested a day after the alleged poisoning incident on Friday. LASG TO DIVERT TRAFFIC AT MARINE BRIDGE FOR EMERGENCY REPAIRS.{PHOTO}.#PRESS RELEASE.

The Lagos State Government will divert traffic at Marine Bridge as the Federal Government commences emergency repair works on different sections of the bridge from tomorrow, Wednesday, 29th of September till Thursday, 23rd of December, 2021. The Commissioner for Transportation, Dr. Frederic Oladeinde, who disclosed this in a statement issued on Tuesday, explained that the repairs will be done in phases for minimal inconvenience to motorists, adding that the Ijora-bound lane will be closed to vehicular movement during the first phase, while the Apapa-bound lane would be subsequently shut for the second phase. Speaking on the traffic diversion plan, the Commissioner revealed that motorists heading towards the Ijora axis will be diverted into a counter-flow on the Apapa-bound lane and vice versa when the Apapa-bound lane is closed for repairs, to reduce traffic gridlock during the course of the project.  Oladeinde further stated that the officers of the State’s Traffic Management Agen...

A statement signed by the Head of Service, Mr. Hakeem Muri-Okunola, explained that both appointees, who are substantive Directors of Audit in the Office of the State Auditor-General, were nominated from the pool of qualified candidates after a rigorous two-month screening between November and December 2020. The government of Lagos State has noted with deep concern attacks on law enforcement agents by hoodlums. Such senseless attacks are attempts to trample on law and order by those who are desperate to turn our society upside down. This will not be allowed to happen. In the latest of such attacks, a Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP), Kazeem Abonde, was killed on September 23, 2021 in Ajao Estate by yet unknown hoodlums. I have directed the Commissioner of Police to ensure that all those who participated in this savagery are brought to justice. This is to encourage our law enforcement agents that we will always stand by them as they carry out their duties and, at the same time, send a strong signal to criminals that any attack on our officers will not go unpunished. EFCC to Launch Strategic Plan  The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has concluded plans to officially unveil its strategic plan (2021-2025).  The plan launch is in line with its mandate to investigate, prosecute and prevent economic and financial crimes and recover the proceeds of crime in Nigeria,  The event takes place tomorrow, September 29, 2021 at the EFCC Headquarters, Abuja.  According to the Executive Chairman of the Commission, Abdulrasheed Bawa, the plan is in line with the five pillars of the national anti-corruption strategy of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

The Historical Society of Nigeria (HSON)  today Tuesday 28 September 2021 conferred Honourary Award of Associate Fellow of Historical Society of Nigeria (AFHSN) on the Chief of Army Staff( COAS) Lieutenant General Faruk Yahaya for his outstanding leadership of the Nigerian Army. The said event happened on 28 July 2021 in Eburutu Barracks Calabar. That the issue happened when they corp members went for drilling competition at the Eburutu Barracks, organize by the commander of the brigade and i was one of the ushers for the event. On the said date i got to the venue early and while i was there, i saw one of my Captain friend who arrived quite early to the venue and on seeing him, i tap him and then we exchange pleasantry, only for Lt. 6 FEARED DEAD AFTER SOLDIERS AND SHITE CLASH.{PHOTO}.

About 6 people have reportedly been shot dead as members of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria, IMN clashed with security agents at the Gwarimpa gate near Galadimawa in Abuja on Tuesday. The IMN members also known as 'shiites 'were about to round off their Arbaeen Symbolic Trek when joint security agents opened fire on them. The incident threw the trek into confusion as people scampered for safety. The Secretary of  the Academic Forum of IMN, Abdullahi Musa has since confirmed the incident. “They are just shooting people. As I am talking to you now, six people have been killed. They even carried some dead bodies away,” he told a news correspondent. Members of the sect had on Tuesday morning come out in continuation of their procession to mark the fortieth day of the murder of Imam Hussein, the grandson of Prophet Muhammad.
