PSC PROMOTES OVER 8,000 POLICE OFFICERS. (PHOTO).

 PSC Promotes Over 8,000 Police Officers On Wednesday, the Police Service Commission (PSC) approved the promotion of 8,053 senior police officers. Earlier in the week, 11 Commissioners of Police were promoted to the rank of Assistant Inspectors General (AIGs), and 16 Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs) were elevated to the rank of Commissioners of Police (CPs). Additionally, 21 Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs) were promoted to DCPs, and 57 Chief Superintendents of Police (CSPs) moved up to Assistant Commissioners (ACPs). According to a statement by the PSC's spokesperson, Ikechukwu Ani, the total number of promotions included 1,348 Superintendents of Police (SPs) promoted to Chief Superintendents, 876 Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs) promoted to Superintendents, and 5,829 Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASPs) promoted to DSPs.       Lagos has recorded a new case of the Coronavirus disease, popularly known as COVID-19, bringing the number of confirmed cases in Nigeria to three. According to the State Commissioner for Health, Prof. Akin Abayomi, the third confirmed case is a 30-year old Nigerian who returned from the United Kingdom on 13th of March via British Airways flight BA 075, having spent 10 days in the United Kingdom and had been on self-isolation before developing fever and high cough. Abayomi stated that the patient had complied strictly with isolation principles which makes contact tracing less cumbersome, adding that she is presently receiving treatment at the Mainland Infectious Disease Hospital, Yaba. “She developed high fever and cough during her self-isolation period immediately she arrived in the country.       Wife of the Governor of Anambra State and Founder of the NGO; Caring Family Enhancement Initiative, CAFE, Dr Ebelechukwu Obiano has visited the Oko Hospital where a-day-old baby girl who survived barbed wire cuts after she was reportedly thrown over barbed wired fence by her teenage mother is recovering. The baby, who was shown in video footage last week, was said to have been deliver ed by her teenage mother, a student of Federal Polytechnic, Oko, Anambra State, and was caught by barbed wires above a fence, after her mother had reportedly thrown her over. Dr Mrs Obiano who supported the child with money, foods, clothing and other items, urged teenagers who find themselves in such difficult circumstances to always leave their babies in open spaces where they can easily be located and picked up by people or authorities, instead of resorting to dire measures.More photos below.

The suspected child abductor, Ola Ibidapo, had held his victim, Tola by neck and was about to strangle her in an umcompleted building when he was caught by passerby,Ektnews reports.       The Abuja Zonal Office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has arrested eight suspected internet fraudsters at different locations within Owerri, Imo State. . . The suspects were rounded up by the operatives of the Advance Fee Fraud Section, AFF of the Zone following an intelligence report on the illegal activities of suspected cybercriminals in and around Owerri city. . .       The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC Gombe zonal office has secured the conviction of one Usman Musa Zambuk before Justice Biatrice Iliya of the Gombe State High Court on a one-count charge bordering on criminal breach of trust. The convict was arraigned before the court following a petition by one Muhammed Gombe alleging that they entered into a business agreement in which the complainant invested the sum of N1,060, 000.00 (One Million, Sixty Thousand Naira). The convict was to oversee the business by going to Cotonou, Benin Republic to buy fairly used cars to sell in Jalingo with the aim of them both sharing the profit. Zambuk, however, diverted the money to his personal used, and so committed an offence contrary to Section 311 and Punishable under Section 312 of the Penal Code Law.
