 Ukraine's Zelenskiy visits South Africa amid efforts to end war with Russia Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy arrived in South Africa on Thursday for talks with President Cyril Ramaphosa on bilateral cooperation and efforts to end Russia's war in Ukraine. Zelenskiy has been trying to shore up international support for Kyiv's war effort amid growing pressure from U.S. President Donald Trump, who said last week that Washington could walk away if there was no clear progress on a peace deal soon. Commenting on the visit, Zelenskiy posted on X that he would meet Ramaphosa as well as other political and civil representatives. "It is crucial to bring a just peace closer," he added, AFP reported. South Africa, which maintains good relations with Russia, has remained neutral in the conflict which began in 2022.                Justice Ibrahim Buba of the Federal High Court in Lagos today monday,declared that it is unconstitutional to deploy military for the supervision of election without the approval of the National Assembly.The ruling of the court was sequel to a suit filed by Femi Gbajabiamila,a member of the House of Representatives representing Surulere Federal constituency 2,under the platform of All Progressives Congress,APC against President Goodluck Jonathan,Chief of Defence staff,Chief of Army staff,Chief of Air staff,Chief of Naval staff and the Attorney General of the Federation.In his argument,Seni Adio,Lawyer to the plaintiff,argued that there was an allegation and evidence that the military inhibited free movement,free access and intimidation of voters in of Osun,Ekiti,and Anambra state where the military were deployed during the governorship elections in those states.He also argued further that it is not ideal to deploy the military to sup...
