PSC PROMOTES OVER 8,000 POLICE OFFICERS. (PHOTO).

 PSC Promotes Over 8,000 Police Officers On Wednesday, the Police Service Commission (PSC) approved the promotion of 8,053 senior police officers. Earlier in the week, 11 Commissioners of Police were promoted to the rank of Assistant Inspectors General (AIGs), and 16 Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs) were elevated to the rank of Commissioners of Police (CPs). Additionally, 21 Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs) were promoted to DCPs, and 57 Chief Superintendents of Police (CSPs) moved up to Assistant Commissioners (ACPs). According to a statement by the PSC's spokesperson, Ikechukwu Ani, the total number of promotions included 1,348 Superintendents of Police (SPs) promoted to Chief Superintendents, 876 Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs) promoted to Superintendents, and 5,829 Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASPs) promoted to DSPs. Unidentified transformer cable thief electrocuted in Niger An unidentified man has been electrocuted while attempting to steal transformer cables in the early hours of Friday on the premises of the Niger State Printing Press in Minna, Niger State. The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the corpse of the man was found by some staff of the printing press hanging on the transformer. The head, Legal Unit of the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company, Aminu Ubandoma, confirmed the incident to newsmen. He said the company had been receiving several reports of transformers being vandalised. Nigerian lady dies inside plane on her way to London 8th Sep 2023  A young Nigerian lady (name withheld) has died aboard Egypt Air flight on her way to London, United Kingdom. The lady was said to have left Nigeria for London onboard Egypt Air MS 876 flight to Cairo on Monday through the Murtala Muhammad International Airport (MMIA), Lagos when she died on board. A family source who confirmed the incident however said the corpse was dropped in Cairo, the Egypt Capital by the airline. “The family said the Airline didn’t inform them, but rather they got a message from the consular office in Cairo informing them of her death on board the flight. Please they need to know what exactly happened and how to get her corpse back to Nigeria,” a source close to the family said. Son smashes father to death for refusing to give him money 8th Sep 2023  A teenager simply identified as Ikechi has smashed his father to death with a pestle at Rumuaghaolu in Obio Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State. Our reporter learnt that the suspect had requested an undisclosed amount of money from the father and became infuriated when the deceased refused to give him the money. An eyewitness said that the enraged boy got hold of a pestle and smashed it on his father’s head. The witness said the deceased died on the spot. “He was enraged over the father’s refusal to give him money yesterday (Thursday). The boy was suspected to be on drugs. He was asking his dad for money and he refused to give him. He carried the pestle and hit him,” the eyewitness said. When contacted, Rivers State Police Command Public Relations Officer, SP Grace Iringe Koko, confirmed the incident. She said that the suspect had been arrested by the police. (Daily Trust: Text).

Tribunal Sacks APC’s Udende, Returns Suswam As Benue North-East Senator The Benue North-East Senatorial Election Petitions Tribunal has sacked Senator Emmanuel Udende of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and returned Senator Gabriel Suswam of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as the senator-elect. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Udende as the winner of the Benue North-East senatorial election held on February 25. But the matter was taken to court with the Chairman of a three-man Tribunal, Justice Ory-Zik Ikeorha, and a member of the panel holding that the petitioner, Suswam proved the allegation of over-voting, mutilation, and cancellation of results and election malpractices in five out of the seven local government areas of the senatorial district. The Tribunal chairman discounted 51,895 votes from Udende’s tally and 21,229 from Suswam’s before recalculating their final votes.
