 Taraba: Police Commissioner Calls for Peaceful Coexistence Between Herders and Farmers The Taraba State Commissioner of Police, Ukachi Peter Opara, has urged for greater peace and understanding between herders and farmers in the state. During a meeting with the leadership of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) in Jalingo on Thursday, Opara highlighted the importance of dialogue and cooperation for long-term development. He emphasized that peaceful coexistence between these groups is crucial for their livelihoods and for fostering economic growth and stability in the state and the nation. Opara commended MACBAN for its readiness to collaborate with the police in promoting peace and security in Taraba.          The Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Ibrahim Magu on Friday, February 15 advised Compliance officers of banks to report suspicious transactions to the EFCC as the general elections commence. The Acting Chairman stated this during a meeting with compliance officers of various banks in Benin City, Edo State. Magu who was represented by Mailafia Yakubu, Benin Zonal Head of the Commission said  based on information at the disposal of the Commission, politicians may want to use banks for illicit transactions before, during and after the elections. "Once the transaction is above the stipulated treashold, you have a duty to report to us. We want to warn you not to be used by politicians. So be circumspect, " he said.        Commonwealth election observers, on February 15, 2019, paid a courtesy visit to Benin Zonal Office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC. The election observers, Marcella Damba-Saray and Joy Nopia, disclosed that their mission was to get a clearer picture on the issue of vote buying/selling that has in recent times tarnished the conduct of elections in Nigerian, specifically to know if the Commission ha s any plan to tackle the menace as the 2019 general election commences.        February 15, 2019 Press Statement The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) alerts that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is hoarding the presidential and senatorial elections result sheets for undisclosed reasons. The party also alerts that PDP agents are being denied the INEC accreditation and identification cards, ostensibly to shut them out of the election monitoring process and allow the All Progressives Congress (APC) a field day to manipulate the process. The party says its monitoring and intelligence show that INEC has been distributing sensitive election materials in most states of the federation without the Presidential and Senatorial elections results sheets.       ‪In order to enhance the support provided to INEC for the airlift of electoral materials to locations across the country, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has deployed 2 additional aircraft for the exercise.‬ The two ATR-42 transport aircraft (NAF 930 and 931) began airlift of materials from Abuja today, 14 Feb 19, joining the C-130H, which has conducted several day and night missions delivering materials across the country since 11 Feb 19.More photos below.

         Justice Mojisola Dada of the Special Offences Court, sitting in Ikeja, Lagos on Thursday, February 14, 2019, sentenced Festus Ojomola, an internet fraudster to one year imprisonment with hard labour for possessing fraudulent documents and engaging in dating scam. Ojomola was arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Lagos Zonal Office, in May 2018 following intelligence report the Commission received on the activities of some persons alleged to be involved in love scam. He was arraigned on February 13, 2019 on an amended two-count charge.
