 M23 says hundreds of Burundi soldiers captured in latest Congo offensive The Rwanda-backed M23 group has captured hundreds of Burundian soldiers during its latest offensive in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo, a rebel official said, as clashes continued despite a warning from the Trump administration. Last week M23 entered the strategic town of Uvira near the border with Burundi, less than a week after the presidents of Congo and Rwanda met in Washington with U.S. President Donald Trump and affirmed their commitment to a peace deal known as the Washington Accords. U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said on Saturday that Rwanda's actions in eastern Congo violated the Washington Accords and vowed to "take action to ensure promises made to the President are kept". Rwanda denies supporting M23 and has blamed Congolese and Burundian forces for the renewed fighting. SUPREME COURT PICKS THURSDAY,FOR SENATOR BUKOLA SARAKI'S HEARING.

                    The Supreme Court decision to hear the appeal this week was contained in the hearing notices sent to parties in the case today.Senator Saraki is challenging the decision of the Code of Conduct Tribunal {CCT} to assume jurisdiction over the false asset declaration charges brought against him by the Code of Conduct Burea {CCB}.The Court of Appeal,in a split decision of two to one upheld that the CCT's jurisdiction to hear the charges,a decision Saraki appealed at the Supreme Court.The Supreme Court had on November twelve directed the CCT to suspend proceedings in the trial pending the determination of the appeal.So now the Supreme Court has picked this week thursday for the hearing on the appeal.One more photo below.                                                           ...

YAHAYA AND FALEKE'S SUPPORTERS CLASHED WITH STONES/STICKS AT THE APC SECRETARIAT IN KOGI STATE.

             Today monday,it was reported that supporters of Alhaji Yahaya Bello who was chosen to replace the late Prince Abubakar Audu in this weekend's supplementary election in Kogi state and those of James Abiodun Falake clashed at the APC National Secretariat just as the party was about to begin a meeting with stakeholders in the state to announce their choice.The supporters were seen carrying sticks and stones and throwing it at each other freely with the policemen on ground looking helpless and unable to curtail.Kaduna state governor,Mallam Nasir el-Rufai who arrived the secretariat about the time the supporters were beginning to go violent had to abandon his car at the gate and enter the secretariat on foot.A few seconds later,James Faleke arrived the scene,sparking off the fight between the supporters who started throwing stones at each other,while others carrying sticks started chasing after each other.A detachment of heavily armed mobile po...

                Police in Kenya conducted aa mock security exercise at a campus in Kenya's capital today monday that sparked panic over a feared attack.Japheth Koome,the police commander in the capital told pressmen that ''It was a mock exercise,we wanted to check on alertness of emergency services''.While other sources claimed that ''Terror drill in a Kenya university left scores injured as panic gripped students,lecturers and administrators.Gunshots were fired during the surprise drill at the Strathmore University at noon {EAT} on monday.Scores of students were injured during the drill as they tried to escape from lectures halls''.More photos below.                                                                      

EBONYI STATE GOVERNOR,SUSPENDED HIS SPECIAL ADVISER TODAY FOR HER UNRULY BEHAVIOUR.

                    Today monday Ebonyi state Governor Dave Umahi suspended indefinitely his Special Adviser in charge of Lagos Lison office,Mrs Jacinta Nworie for alleged unruly behaviour.A statement issued by the Governor's Principal Secretary,Nweke Clement,said the suspension followed alleged unruly behaviours and acts unbecoming of a public office holder,which portrayed the state in a bad light.The statement directed the suspended Special Adviser to immediately hand over all government properties in her possession to the most Senior Civil Servant in the office.Mrs Nworie was last week redeployed back to the state to take over as Special Adviser on Talent Development in the office of the secretary to the State Government.One more photo below.
