APPLE'S STATEMENT ON MINERALS MUST BE 'VERIFIED'-DRC. (PHOTO).

 Apple's statement on minerals must be 'verified': DRC International lawyers for the Democratic Republic of Congo welcomed Apple's decision to stop sourcing minerals from there due to worsening conflict, but said they would press ahead with their cases against the company in Europe. Criminal complaints were filed against Apple subsidiaries in France and Belgium this week on behalf of DR Congo, accusing the tech firm of using conflict minerals in its supply chain, Reuters reported. DR Congo is a major source of tin, tantalum and tungsten, so-called 3T minerals used in computers and mobile phones. But some artisanal mines are run by armed groups involved in massacres, rapes and other crimes, say UN experts and rights groups. 'Satisfaction and caution' Apple said on Tuesday that it strongly disputes the claims and has told suppliers they must not use the minerals in question sourced from DR Congo or Rwanda.                According to ABC,floods triggered by days of torrential monsoon rains have claimed more than 50 lives in eastern India this week,with millions of people affected by surging waters.Rivers burst their banks,flooding villages in the northeastern tea-growing state of Assam where 26 people died,Home Minister Rajnath Singh said.''The flood situation is really grim.Twenty-six people have died over seven days and some 3.6 million people are affected,Mr Singh said,following an aerial survey of the worst-affected districts.''No effect are being spared to help the people.The NDRF {National Disaster Response Force} and army are doing their best.Some 60 boats have been pressed into service to rescue people''.Thousands of people were sheltering in makeshift camps set up along highways and no higher ground in the flood-ravaged state.Severe floods have also hit the state of Bihar where 26 people have also died and several thousands have been displa...

TANZANIA IS SET TO ARREST THOSE WHO DISRESPECT,OR WALK WHEN THE NATIONAL FLAG IS RAISED OR LOWERED.

                     Government institution in Tanzania that use worn-out or dirty national flags,people who will be walking while the national flag is being raised or lowered shall face fines or an imprisonment term of not less than two years.Tanzanian's Chief Government Printer,Mr Kassian Chibogoyo,said ''National flags must be respected.We carried out a number of public education programmes on the importance of respecting the national flag.I now direct the Police Force to arrest all those who will be walking when the national flag is raised or lowered because it is against the National Emblems Act of 1971..It is clearly stated that anyone who disrespects national emblems,including the national flag,will be fined,imprisoned for not less than two years or both punishments will be imposed''.One more photo below.                                   ...

                  A team of scientists from the University of the Witwatersrand found evidence of cancer in a foot bone and spine from two human ancestors.According to the research a variety of cancers existed so many year ago still exist to age changing the assumption that scientists have had that cancer is a modern disease.Edward John Odes of Wits University's School of Anatomical Sciences told CNN that ''There has to be something else that's causing cancer...We don't know what it is at this stage.We know that there are mechanisms that bring these tumors and cancers,The question is,how can we apply these mechanisms to understand the evolution of cancer from ancient times into this modern world?'.More photo below.                                                                 ...

INDIAN COUPLE HACKED TO DEATH ON THURSDAY,FOR 15 RUPEES BISCUIT DEBT.{PHOTOS}

         According to BBC,a man from India's Dalit community has been beheaded and his wife hacked to death after a row over a 15 rupees {22 cents,16 pence } debt in Uttar Pradesh state.Police said the couple were murdered by an upper caste grocer on thursday when they told him they needed time to pay for biscuits they had bought from him.The grocer has been arrested.Dalits,formerly known as untouchables ,from the lowest rung of India's caste hierachy.Police told the Press Trust of India nes agency that the incident took place in Mainpuri district early on thursday as the couple were on their way to work.They were stopped by Ashok Mishra,the owner of a village grocery,who demanded that the couple pay the money for three packets of biscuits that they had bought for their three children a few days ago.The couple reportedly told him they would pay after they received their daily wages later in the evening.Nadeem,a local villager told The Indian Express newspaper th...

5 SUSPECTED OIL THIEVES,WERE ARRAIGNED ON WEDNESDAY BY THE EFCC IN PORT HARCOURT.{PHOTO}

                 The EFCC,ON wednesday,27 July,2016 arraigned five suspected oil thieves; Sokari Iminabo,Segun Olagunju,Uche Emmanuel,Obinna Ezinne and Tiny Patience before Justice I.J Watilla of the Federal High court,sitting in Port Harcourt,Rivers State on a two count charge bordering on illegal dealing in petroleum products.The suspects were arrested on 26 April,2016 at Anyako waterside in Sama Community,Asari Toru Local Government,Rivers State by troops of the 130 Battalion of the Nigerian Army.At the point of arrest,the suspects were in possession of a locally constructed metal tank,housed in a Man Diesel truck with registration number SOKOTO XA 614 BDN to convey illegally refined Automative Gasooline Oil {AGO} concealed in poultry feeds.
