 October 1 protest: Ogun court restricts protesters to MKO Abiola Stadium, three other venues A High Court sitting in Abeokuta, Ogun State, has restricted members of the #FearlessInOctober protest groups in the state to the MKO Abiola Stadium in Abeokuta, Gateway International Stadium, Sagamu; Dipo Dina Stadium, Ijebu Ode, and Ansar-Ud-Deen Comprehensive High School, Ota. The court presided by Tajudeen.   The sister of a Black man shot to death by Delaware police in January sued the officers on Wednesday, saying her brother’s death was not justified and another example of unnecessary deadly force by white police against Black citizens. Lymond Moses, 30, was killed around 1 a.m. on Jan. 13 in Wilmington during an encounter with three New Castle County police officers, two of whom fired into his car nine times, with the fatal shot striking his head, according to the death certificate. Several hours after the shooting, the police department issued a press release which stated that Moses fled the officers in his car, hit a dead end, made a U-turn "and drove at a high rate of speed directly at the officers. The officers subsequently discharged their firearms and struck the driver." After pressure from the family and civil rights groups, the police department was ordered in March by Matt Meyer, the New Castle County Executive, to release video footage from all three officers'

  In separate visits, the Resident Representative United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Mr Mohamed Yahya and the Senior Political Officer, United Nations Office for West Africa and Sahel (UNOWAS) on 27 April 2021 paid a courtesy call on the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lt Gen Ibrahim Attahiru. The UNDP led by the Resident Representative, Mr Mohamed Yahya, stated that he was at the Army Headquarters to solicit for support from the Nigerian Army (NA) in the area of its activities for regional stabilization strategy and to chat ways the UNDP can do better in support of the objectives of ensuring peace and security of the North East. He noted that UNDP with the support of Federal and state governments has developed regional stabilization facilities with components. This include according to him, Civil Military Coordination that works closely with the NA in the North East.   Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun suggested on Wednesday that he might end up as a pastor after serving as governor. Governor Abiodun, who made the remark when speaking at the 108th Nigeria Baptist Convention held at the Baptist International Conference Centre, Lufuwape Town, along Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, said that athough he would not ascribe to himself the authority of the clergy, because he loves reading, studying and sharing the the Bible, he ‘may end up on the pulpit after I have served as governor.’ The event, which was equally used to conduct valedictory and commendation services for the retiring President of Baptist Convention, Nigeria and the President, Christians Association of Nigeria (CAN) Dr (Reverend) Samson Ayokunle, was attended by former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, Senator Ishaku Abbo, among other dignitaries.
