 October 1 protest: Ogun court restricts protesters to MKO Abiola Stadium, three other venues A High Court sitting in Abeokuta, Ogun State, has restricted members of the #FearlessInOctober protest groups in the state to the MKO Abiola Stadium in Abeokuta, Gateway International Stadium, Sagamu; Dipo Dina Stadium, Ijebu Ode, and Ansar-Ud-Deen Comprehensive High School, Ota. The court presided by Tajudeen.             Senate President,Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki,has said that the Senate is presently working on critical legislation to reposition the nation's transportation sector. Saraki disclosed this when the National Executive Committee of the Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria {RTEAN},led by its National President,Alhaji Abubakar Sadiq visited him in Abuja.The Senate President who was decorated as the Grand Patron of the association by Sadiq,during the visit,according to a statement by his Chief Press Secretary,Sanni Onogu,stated that the National Assembly,under his leadership,will spare no effort to ensure that the transport sector is working effectively.                                                          Justice Nnamdi Dimgba of the Federal High Court sitting in Maitama,Abuja today friday,February 3,2017 ordered the remand of Shamsudeen Bala,son of a former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory,Senator Bala Mohammed in Kuje prison pending the perfection of his bail terms.Bala is being prosecuted on a 15-count charge of money laundering to the tune of N1.2 billion by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission,EFCC. He was admitted to bail today in the sum of N100million with two sureties in the sum of N50million each.The sureties must either be a private businessmen or public servant not below the rank of assistant director.The sureties must have landed properties in Abuja or within Lagos metropolis excluding satellite towns.The defendant must produce three years tax clearance and must not travel without the consent of the court.The defendant must also comply with Section 15 of the ACJA,2015 or depose to an affidavit in cas

                     The attention of the Nigeria Police Force has been drawn to an online/social media publication by Premium Times Nigeria captioned ''Strip Police of Power to Prosecute Criminal Cases,Judge Advices Nigerian Government''.The said publication was credited to the Chief Judge of Delta State,Hon. Justice Marshall Unukoto,in a lecture he delivered at the 2017 Aquinas Day Colloquium of Dominican Institute in Ibadan Oyo State on Tuesday 31st January,2017. 2. The call according to the publication was made by the the Judge when he commented on the inefficient handling of criminal cases by the Police prosecutors who are not lawyers. 3. It is pertinent however,to state that the call was made by the Hon. Chief Judge without recourse to section 106 of the Administration of criminal Justice Act {ACJA} 2015,which clearly excludes non lawyers from processing all offences in any Court of Law. 4.                  Yesterday,the General Officer Commanding {GOC} 3 Division,Major General Peter Dauke visited troops of 154 Task Force Battalion and 156 Task Force Battalion deployed at Alagarno and Mauli respectively for Operation LAFIYA DOLE.He was accompanied by Brigadier General Kabiru Mukhtar,Commander 29 Task Brigade.During the visit,the GOC shared meals with the troops.He also visited troops location at Mada and Bulabulin yesterday.More photos below.
