 Zamfara Governor’s Wife Facilitates Marriage for 100 Orphans, Offers Support to Grooms The wife of the Zamfara State Governor, Huriyya Dauda Lawal, has overseen the marriage of 100 orphaned girls in the state. The brides, who were well cared for prior to the ceremony, received full attention for their beautification. Each bride’s dowry, amounting to 151,000 Naira, was covered by the Governor’s wife. In addition, Huriyya Dauda Lawal provided essential household items, including furniture such as cushions, beds, wardrobes, mattresses, and kitchen utensils. Furthermore, she offered financial assistance of N50,000 to each groom to help them start their businesses and achieve self-sufficiency. Hajiya Lawal encouraged the brides to respect their husbands and practice patience. She also assured them that the Zakkat and Endowment Board would be available to offer support should any marital issues arise.

Zulum Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno State has revealed that certain individuals are benefiting from the ongoing insurgency in the state. Speaking in an interview with Channels Television on Sunday, Zulum disclosed that the sponsors of insurgency have no interest in seeing the crisis come to an end. The governor further explained that these beneficiaries are not just limited to Borno State but are spread across different parts of the country, cutting across all levels of society, from civilians to military personnel. “Among the population.  Organised labour in Nasarawa State is gearing up for an indefinite strike after a state government’s delay in implementing the new national minimum wage. Comrade Ismaila Okoh, the Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) in the state, disclosed this in a telephone interview with Radio Nigeria. He said despite numerous meetings, including those chaired by Deputy Governor, Dr Emmanuel Akabe, no formal agreement had been reached. According to Comrade Okoh, the government verbally committed to N70,500 minimum wage but failed to provide a written agreement specifying payment terms. He stressed that all affiliate unions have been alerted and instructed to prepare for strike action if the government does not implement the new wage by December 1, 2024. “The workers are resolute. A 13-year-old boy has taken legal action against his parents, accusing them of “brutally” taking him overseas and enrolling him in a boarding school before abandoning him there.
