CABLE VANDALISM: SUSPECT CAUGHT IN ABIA COMMUNITY. (PHOTO).

Abia State Community Policing Vigilante has arrested an electric cable thief, simply identified as Samuel, while vandalizing power installations along Isi Court-Ikputu road in Isiala Ngwa area. While two out of the three thieves escaped with their operational tricycle, the leader of the syndicate identified as Samuel, from Ebonyi State was apprehended by the Community Policing Vigilante. The arrest of the suspect was made known by the Commander of Abia State Community Policing Vigilante in the area, K.C. Martins. Martins, who said that efforts have been intensified by his men to arrest the two fleeing members of the criminal gang, commended Governor Alex Otti’s administration’s determination protecting the lives and property of the people in the State. MAKURDI RESIDENTS FLEE AS SURGING RIVER BENUE SUBMERGE PARTS OF STATE CAPITAL Several residents of Makurdi, the Benue state capital have started fleeing from their homes following the sudden rise in water levels of River Benue which has left hundreds of households displaced and stranded. The sudden surge which has already submerged all the residential houses, hotels, school, churches, market and business places located about two kilometres from the bank of the river is also threatening the highbrow Judges Quarters and adjoining communities as the water level kept increasing by the hour. Also threatened by the fast rising water were Kucha Utebe community, Gyado Villa community, part of Benue State University Teaching Hospital, BSUTH, the Wurukum Abattoir, Timber and rice Markets as well as the Angwan Jukun areas of the state capital. EFCC Arrests Man for N14 million Employment Scam Operatives of the EFCC have arrested Hassan Babangida Hassan for alleged criminal conspiracy, employment scam and forgery. He was arrested in Kano,  on Wednesday, September7, 2022   based on alleged fraudulent claims of being an employment agent that could secure jobs for applicants in different  ministries and parastatals.  He allegedly defrauded an applicant,  Usman Rilwan, of the sum of N14,950, 000 (Fourteen Million, Nine Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira), in the guise of getting a paid job for him.   Rilwan  alleged that he paid  the suspect the money as a “facilitation fee” to “process” the offer of the job.   Hassan allegedly  issued his victim an appointment letter,  which , upon presentation was discovered to be fake

LASG DEBUNKS ALLEGATION ON SALE OF CAMPAIGN STICKERS The Lagos State Government has debunked the claims contained in a viral video on social media alleging its participation in forcing the motoring public to purchase stickers to raise funds for the campaign of some All Progressive Congress candidates. A statement issued by the Honourable Commissioner for Transportation, Dr. Frederic Oladeinde condemned the claim in strong terms, stating that the sticker was neither created nor circulated by the Ministry or any agency of the government. He urged stakeholders, especially those providing public transportation, to report anyone caught selling the stickers in the name of the Lagos State Ministry of Transportation, advising those involved in the mischief to refrain or face the wrath of the Law.

2023: Kaduna Police Warns Politicians Against Violating Electoral Act The Kaduna State Police Command has warned all political parties and their candidates to strictly abide by the Electoral Act towards ensuring peaceful 2023 general elections. The Command also warned parents and guardians not to allow their wards to be used as thugs and trouble makers before, during and after the elections. ASUU: Protesting Students Can’t Block Third Mainland Bridge, Police Warn The Lagos State Police Command has warned aggrieved varsity students protesting the seven-month industrial action by the Academic Staff Union of Universities to desist from any plan to block the Third Mainland Bridge in Nigeria’s economic capital. The spokesman for the police command in the state, Benjamin Hundeyin, told Channels Television on Wednesday morning that though students or any group have the right to protest they also have no right to restrict others’ movement. “They can protest but they can’t infringe on other people’s right to movement,” Hundeyin told our correspondent in a telephone chat. Hundeyin also said police officers have been stationed at the end of the bridge which spans over 11.8km to prevent any form of blockage. The command’s spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin, who shared photos from the Third Mainland Bridge, noted that police officers were on the ground to ensure that people’s right to freedom was not violated. Hundeyin tweeted, “I personally visited the 3rd Mainland Bridge this morning. Our officers, led by DPO Adeniji Adele, CSP Lanre Edegbai, are fully on ground at that end of the bridge. Same applies at other points. Have no fear. We got you covered. “We will not allow any person or group of persons deprive Lagosians of their Right to Freedom of Movement.
