 Apple's statement on minerals must be 'verified': DRC International lawyers for the Democratic Republic of Congo welcomed Apple's decision to stop sourcing minerals from there due to worsening conflict, but said they would press ahead with their cases against the company in Europe. Criminal complaints were filed against Apple subsidiaries in France and Belgium this week on behalf of DR Congo, accusing the tech firm of using conflict minerals in its supply chain, Reuters reported. DR Congo is a major source of tin, tantalum and tungsten, so-called 3T minerals used in computers and mobile phones. But some artisanal mines are run by armed groups involved in massacres, rapes and other crimes, say UN experts and rights groups. 'Satisfaction and caution' Apple said on Tuesday that it strongly disputes the claims and has told suppliers they must not use the minerals in question sourced from DR Congo or Rwanda.         The National Centre for Disease and Control, NCDC has debunked reports that Nollywood actress, Funke Akindele is one of its ambassadors. Funke Akindele appeared in an advert on NCDC website where she was educating Nigerians on preventive measures against coronavirus. Reports had that the ‘Jenifa’ crooner was an ambassador to the agency. However, her recent action where she organized a house party and  violated the lock-down order  by the state and federal government raised concerns about her tainting the image of the agency. But, NCDC in a post on its Twitter page said the agency has not engaged any brand ambassador as part of its response to Covid-19.       My dear Lagosians, greetings. Yesterday, I announced the discharge of one more patient at our Infectious Disease Hospital, Yaba. Today, I am happy to inform you that five more patients comprising two males and three females including a 10 year old girl have tested negative twice consecutively to  # COVID19  and have been discharged to reunite with their families. This brings to 29 the total number of patients who have fully recovered and discharged from our facility at Yaba. It is however sad that the State has recorded another death, bringing to two the total number of deaths from COVID19 in Lagos State. Although, there is a strong indication that the State is winning the battle against the disease which is ravaging several countries across the world but we need to remain steadfast and aggressive to curtail the spread. KIDNAP: SPECIAL ADVISER TO THE GOVERNOR OF NASARAWA STATE ON LG WAS KIDNAPPED LAST NIGHT.{PHOTO}.

     The Special Adviser to the Governor of Nasarawa State on Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs and Community Development Mr. John Waje Mamman, has been kidnapped last night. Mr Mamman was kidnnaped precisely around 8pm on Saturday in his house at Dari, in kokona Local Government Area of the state. A source who spoke to our correspondent on condition of anonymity said Mamman along  side his associates in the community were said to be relaxing in his compound as a result of unfriendly weather, when kidnappers invaded his house and whisked him away. According to him, the kidnappers surrounded his house and started shootting sporadically which made Mamman and his friends scampared for safety. The source however said luck ran out against one of the suspected kidnappers as he was napped by some members of the community. No communication has been made between the suspected kidnappers and Mamman relations since yesterday. Details later......

EDO STATE: ONE DEAD,3 PATIENTS TESTED POSITIVE TO COVID-19 AND 25 DOCTORS IN ISOLATION TODAY.{PHOTO}.

     ALL of them denied coming back from Europe and have exposed health workers to the virus. Right now, 25 doctors have now gone into isolation in UBTH Benin. This happened today in University of Benin Teaching Hospital in Edo State. The patients were admitted via A and E with complaints of cough, difficulty in breathing, catarrh but they all DENIED their travel history. Clearly, Nigerian patients have decided to kill health workers. They were initially tested as negative and they were then transferred to the open ward where they had contact with many doctors, nurses, cleaners, and health workers. One of them deteriorated so bad and they repeated the test for all of them after 72hours- it came back POSITIVE. The one that deteriorated had kidney problems and is now dead. 25 medical doctors have now gone into isolation in UBTH. Of that 25, thirteen are doctors who just graduated from medical school.       The Benue State Executive Council has resolved that each member should donate N100,000 every month to the fight against Coronavirus in the state. By this decision, the 28-member Executive Council will be contributing N2.8 million monthly till the battle against the spread of COVID-19 in Benue State is over. Secretary to the State Government, Professor Anthony Ijohor, SAN, who made known the decision of the Council members today at the Benue Peoples House Makurdi, expressed the determination of the Samuel Ortom administration to sustain its proactive approach to tackling the pandemic.        The family of the late Commissioner for Health, Enugu State, Prof. Anthony Ugochukwu, has formally announced his death. A statement signed on behalf of the family by Dr. Kingsley C. Ugochukwu, stated that the late Commissioner, whose sad event took place on the 3rd of April, 2020, died “after a prolonged but valiant battle with chronic kidney disease”. According to the statement, late Prof. Ugochukwu “was until his death a Consultant Surgeon, Professor of Medicine, serving Commissioner for Health, Enugu State and immediate past Provost of ESUT College of Medicine, Enugu State”.       The Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun Saturday inspected bagged relief materials at the State Central Food Bank ahead of the stimulus package distribution across the State. The Governor, who was on the visit to ensure quality assurance in content, bagging and logistics, emphasised that the exercise was targeted at 500,000 homes. Governor Abiodun stressed that while the number of targeted beneficiaries may not reflect everyone, it would achieve the objective of the exercise which is to reach the poor and vulnerable. The Governor reiterated that his administration will not condone any act of sabotage, exploitation or compromise, as the exercise would be closely monitored.
