 Zamfara Governor’s Wife Facilitates Marriage for 100 Orphans, Offers Support to Grooms The wife of the Zamfara State Governor, Huriyya Dauda Lawal, has overseen the marriage of 100 orphaned girls in the state. The brides, who were well cared for prior to the ceremony, received full attention for their beautification. Each bride’s dowry, amounting to 151,000 Naira, was covered by the Governor’s wife. In addition, Huriyya Dauda Lawal provided essential household items, including furniture such as cushions, beds, wardrobes, mattresses, and kitchen utensils. Furthermore, she offered financial assistance of N50,000 to each groom to help them start their businesses and achieve self-sufficiency. Hajiya Lawal encouraged the brides to respect their husbands and practice patience. She also assured them that the Zakkat and Endowment Board would be available to offer support should any marital issues arise.

POLICE ARRESTED A SOLDIER FOR HIJACKING A FUEL TRUCK ALONG AKOBO,IWO ROAD TODAY.

       The Police Command in Oyo State has arrested a soldier serving at 81 Battalion, Makola, Ibadan, for allegedly hijacking a fuel-laden truck along Akobo, Iwo road. The Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr Abiodun Odunde, made the disclosure in Ibadan while presenting the suspects to newsmen at the command’s headquarters in Ibadan on Friday.Odunde said that the soldier and three others were arrested on Nov.11 along Akobo, Iwo road, Ibadan.The commissioner said that investigation revealed that the gang was responsible for waylaying and subsequently hijacking trucks along the expressway.“The gang led by the soldier hijacked a 40,000 litre truck with registration number ABJ 132XA at about 9:30 p.m. and abducted the driver and the conductor.“They later took them to Omi-Adio after robbing them of their money and valuables and thereafter drove the truck to Akure/Ilesa road.“The alarm raised by the victim attracted some members of the community who alerted the po...

NO PLAN TO SELL KWARA HOTEL-KWARA GOVT.

      The Kwara State Government has refuted allegations by opposition party in the State that it was planning to sell Kwara Hotel to private individuals. The State Commissioner for Information and Communication, Alhaji Mahmud Ajeigbe said in a statement on Thursday, that contrary to the allegation, the State government has actually concluded arrangements to embark on a comprehensive renovation of the state-owned hotel. Ajeigbe explained that what Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed said during his last interactive radio programme, ‘The Governor Explains’, was that Kwara Hotel would be upgraded to an internationally recognized new dual brand of 3 and 4 star hospitality outfit. The Commissioner said that what the State government intends to do is to give interested Kwarans home and abroad, opportunity to invest and own shares in the hotel, and make its turn-around to be inclusive in line with best global practice. LAGOS BEGINS ENFORCEMENT OF STREET-GATE REGULATIONS+REMOVAL OF ESTATES & STREETS GATES.

           The Lagos State Special Taskforce Committee has commenced the removal of gates of Estates and Streets that have failed to comply with government regulations directing that all roads must be accessible between 5am and midnight within the metropolis and suburban areas of the State daily. Speaking at the commencement of the enforcement exercise which kicked-off in Surulere, Ajeromi Ifelodun, Ikeja, Isolo, Ikosi-Isheri, Ojodu a nd Amuwo-Odofin areas of the State, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Community Affairs, Alhaji Tajudeen Adeniyi Quadri said those acting contrary to the law were posing a great security threat to the government's resolve to achieve a safe and secured Lagos.      President of the Senate, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, has commended the United States government for its support for Nigeria’s bid to defeat the Boko Haram insurgents in the North-east zone through the approval of the sale of A29 Super Tucano fighter jets to the Nigerian Air Force.    The Governor of Edo State, Mr Godwin Obaseki, has signed the state’s 2018 appropriation bill as passed by the Edo State House of Assembly, into law. At the signing ceremony in Government House, Benin City, on Friday, Obaseki said the speedy passage of the appropriation bill was remarkable as it shows the harmony between the state’s executive and legislative arms of government.   The 2018 budget estimate which was pegged at N146 billion by the executive, was increased to N150 billion by the House of Assembly to allow for more infrastructural and agricultural projects.         Independent petroleum marketers in Ekiti have reduced fuel price to below N200 per litre. The new price is coming second day of the sale of petroleum in the government's house pump to the public. Governor Ayodele Fayose had on Monday directed the sale of the fuel at pump price of N145 per litre to the public to cushion the effect of the hardship of the fuel scarcity during Christmas.        Heather Menzies-Urich, an actress who played one of the singing von Trapp children in the hit 1965 film “The Sound of Music,” died Dec. 24 in Frankford, Ontario. She was 68. Her son, actor Ryan Urich, told Variety that the cause was brain cancer.            Today, Thursday 28th December 2017, the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General TY Buratai commissioned many developmental projects in 3 Division Nigerian Army Area of Responsibility. The projects include the newly constructed Main Entrance Gate of the Headquarters 3 Division Jos, Soldiers Club and various Water projects in the Cantonment. The COAS also commissioned renovated Senior Non-Commissioned Officer s living accommodations and layed the foundation for construction of the Rhino Fire Station for the barracks community amongst others.
