 Zamfara Governor’s Wife Facilitates Marriage for 100 Orphans, Offers Support to Grooms The wife of the Zamfara State Governor, Huriyya Dauda Lawal, has overseen the marriage of 100 orphaned girls in the state. The brides, who were well cared for prior to the ceremony, received full attention for their beautification. Each bride’s dowry, amounting to 151,000 Naira, was covered by the Governor’s wife. In addition, Huriyya Dauda Lawal provided essential household items, including furniture such as cushions, beds, wardrobes, mattresses, and kitchen utensils. Furthermore, she offered financial assistance of N50,000 to each groom to help them start their businesses and achieve self-sufficiency. Hajiya Lawal encouraged the brides to respect their husbands and practice patience. She also assured them that the Zakkat and Endowment Board would be available to offer support should any marital issues arise.

  Second KDSG Security Update: Tuesday 4th May 2021. Armed bandits kill one, injure three in Chikun local government area - One killed and three injured in Kajuru LGA. Security agencies have reported that armed bandits invaded Mazari, a community close to Buruku in Chikun LGA. According to the report, one Mariya Sale was killed in the attack. Three others were injured, identified as - Ladidi Abdullahi - Zubaida Balarabe - Hauwa'u Ayuba In another reported incident, armed bandits attacked Doka village, Kajuru LGA. One Bitrus Luka was shot dead, and three others were injured. The injured are: - Kings Andy - Danladi Audu - Titus Friday. Governor Nasir El-Rufai noted the reports with sadness and prayed for the repose of the souls of the slain victims, while offering his heartfelt condolences to their families.   Kaduna-based Islamic scholar, Shiekh Abubakar Ahmad Gumi has disclosed that bandits use proceeds from kidnapping to purchase arms and their settle informants. gumi The controversial cleric also stated that Nigerian elites and government officials were not behind the activities of bandits in the north despite a repentant bandit claiming that they have the backing of the federal government in a viral video. Sheikh Gumi told Daily Post in an interview that bandits are now independent and not being influenced or sponsored by anyone. He said: “That was a small metamorphosis in the process, but now the bulk of the money they collect is used to buy weapons. Bandits are independent now, and nobody influences them.   Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello on Tuesday said that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has performed beyond the 16-year achievement of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Bello, who spoke during an interview on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily, said his party has delivered good governance to Nigerians. “Largely, APC has performed beyond what PDP has achieved in their 16 years of governance in Nigeria,” Bello spoke from the Kogi State Government House in Lokoja. “APC’s successes today within six years outweigh the successes of 16 years that they ruled. The statistics are there.   Parents of the abducted students of the College of Forestry Mechanization Afaka in Kaduna State have occupied the National Assembly complex, Abuja, in protest. The protesters which include members of the Students Union Government (SUG) of the institution are lamenting over what they described as the negligence of the state and Federal Government in securing the release of the children. They chanted songs of solidarity and displayed placards demanding prompt rescue of the students. “Education is our right! Safety is our right! Freedom is our right!, Free Afaka 29! ” the parents and students chanted as they marched to the National Assembly.   Zainab Shamsuna Ahmed The Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning, Zainab Ahmed, has said that President Muhammadu Buhari has directed the salaries committee to review payroll and also review the number of agencies. The government will also remove some unnecessary items from the budget as a move to cut the cost of governance in the country. Zainab disclosed this at the ongoing ‘National Policy Dialogue on Corruption and Cost of Governance in Nigeria’ held in Abuja on Tuesday. The programme was organised by the Independent Corrupt Practice Commission. The government had approved a N13.88trn budget with a deficit of over N5.6trn. The government projected a revenue of N7.98trn to fund part of the 2021 budget. “We still see government expenditure increase to a terrain twice higher than our revenue,” Ahmed said. OGSIEC AMENDS ELECTORAL TIMETABLE, RETAINS JULY 24 FOR ELECTIONS.{PHOTOS}.#PRESS RELEASE

  In preparation for the forth coming Local Government elections, the Ogun State Independent Electoral Commission (OGSIEC) has amended the earlier released timetable, as party primaries have been increased from five to 22days, starting from Wednesday, May 5 to Thursday, May 27, 2021. Political campaigns are now to end midnight on Thursday, July 22, 2021, as against the earlier slated time, while the election date remained Saturday, July 24, 2021. Chairman, OGSIEC, Mr. Babatunde Osibodu made this announcement at the official flag-off ceremony of the political activities leading to the 2021 Local Government elections, at the June 12 Cultural Center kuto Abeokuta, urging the political class and aspirants to embrace stipulated guidelines. Osibodu said the Commission would waive the payment of a non-refundable deposit by intending candidates for female aspirants, adding that it was a gesture to encourage more women to participate in the election.More photos below.
