PSC PROMOTES OVER 8,000 POLICE OFFICERS. (PHOTO).

 PSC Promotes Over 8,000 Police Officers On Wednesday, the Police Service Commission (PSC) approved the promotion of 8,053 senior police officers. Earlier in the week, 11 Commissioners of Police were promoted to the rank of Assistant Inspectors General (AIGs), and 16 Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs) were elevated to the rank of Commissioners of Police (CPs). Additionally, 21 Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs) were promoted to DCPs, and 57 Chief Superintendents of Police (CSPs) moved up to Assistant Commissioners (ACPs). According to a statement by the PSC's spokesperson, Ikechukwu Ani, the total number of promotions included 1,348 Superintendents of Police (SPs) promoted to Chief Superintendents, 876 Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs) promoted to Superintendents, and 5,829 Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASPs) promoted to DSPs.  EU recalls ambassador to Niger amid row over aid The European Union will recall its ambassador from Niger after the country's ruling military questioned an EU delegation's management of humanitarian aid meant for flood victims, the European External Action Service (EEAS) said on Saturday. Niger's junta issued a statement on Friday accusing the EU ambassador in the West African country of dividing a 1.3 million euro fund to assist flood victims between several international NGOs in an non-transparent manner, and without collaborating with the authorities. It ordered an audit into the fund's management as a result. "The European Union expresses its profound disagreement with the allegations and justifications put forward by the transitional authorities," the EEAS said in a statement, Reuters reported.  The House of Representatives has uncovered abuses of the Federal Character principle, extra-budgetary spending, and recurring issues of abandoned and uncompleted projects in some federal polytechnics across Nigeria. The findings emerged during an oversight session by the House Committee on Polytechnics and Other Higher Technical Education. Rectors and management staff from Federal Polytechnic Mubi, Adamawa State; Federal Polytechnic Monguno, Borno State; and Federal Polytechnic Damaturu, Yobe State appeared before the committee to account for their budget performance. The committee expressed dissatisfaction with various infractions identified in the documents presented by the institutions.  A shocking incident occurred in Bagalkot, Karnataka, where a woman suffered critical injuries after a hair dryer exploded.  The victim, Basamma Yaranal, lost both her forearms and sustained severe injuries to her fingers. Basamma, the widow of late soldier Papanna, had been asked by her neighbor to demonstrate the device when the explosion took place, leaving her in critical condition. The hair dryer was part of a parcel addressed to Shashikala, another widow of a deceased soldier, who was out of town at the time. Basamma had collected and opened the package on Shashikala’s behalf. As soon as the hair dryer was plugged in, it exploded, causing significant injuries. Basamma was immediately rushed to a private hospital in Ilkal for treatment.  The Nigeria Labour Congress has said its December 1 ultimatum to state governors who fail to implement the new minimum wage by the end of November 2024 still stands. The NLC’s Head of Protocol and Public Relations, Benson Upah, confirmed this in a text message sent to our correspondent in Abuja. Recall that the NLC had given state governments an ultimatum of December 1, 2024, to implement the new minimum wage. “Yes, the ultimatum still stands. Nothing has changed,” Upah told newsmen on Saturday. Meanwhile, more state governments who have yet to reach an agreement with the organized labour movements in their states as of the time the ultimatum was given are currently trying to meet the deadline.

The Nigerian presidential jet took off at Galeao Air Force Base, Rio de Janeiro, at about 10:20 am local time.  Brooklyn man arrested after throwing his friend's dog from a 14th story balcony! The puppy did not make it.  According to the NYPD, 33-year-old Alberto Morris is accused of throwing a 2-year-old Pit Bull from the 14th floor of an apartment building in Crown Heights on November 1st.  The dog belonged to Morris' friend and during a dispute with a resident at the building, Morris became enraged and threw the dog from the balcony. Alberto Morris is being charged with reckless endangerment, aggravated cruelty to animals, grand larceny, criminal possession of stolen property and criminal mischief.  Morris plead not guilty at his arraignment and was released without bond.

 Florida mom "smirks" during court appearance after drowning her 14-year-old daughter. As Osceola County Deputies arrived at a home in Poinciana, Florida on Wednesday (November 20th), they were stunned at the shocking situation they found themselves in. The emergency call was for an assault.  33-year-old Kelsie Glover was chasing and attempting to attack her daughter and roommate. After officers intervened and restrained Glover, the broken hearted witnesses began to share the horrors they saw.  According to the witnesses, Kelsie Glover had "held her 14-year-old daughter's head underwater in the bathtub until she became unresponsive". They went on to share that "Glover attacked them with a hammer when they tried to stop her".  Operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) on Thursday apprehended Kennedy Tabukoi in Abuja for allegedly leading an unregistered NGO, the Niger Delta Development Initiative (NDDI), in a scheme to blackmail government officials. According to security sources, Tabukoi targeted officials with demands for money or contracts, threatening to organise protests against them if they failed to comply. One such protest took place on Thursday morning at the National Assembly gate, where Tabukoi led a demonstration accusing lawmakers of stalling a probe into the petroleum sector. “Tabukoi had been boasting to his associates about using his alleged Niger-Delta activism to intimidate officials into doing his bidding,” a security source revealed. “Ironically, those he sought to exploit were the ones who tipped us off, confirming he was running a sham NGO for personal gain.” Investigations revealed that Tabukoi had no legally registered NGO and was using intimidation tactics to solicit ...

Nigeria, record holders of the competition, will be aiming to extend their impeccable form in the tournament.  Edo Declares Over 200 Govt Vehicles Missing, Recovers Three The committee set up by the Edo government to recover government assets says over 200 vehicles belonging to the state are missing.  The chairman of the committee Kelly Okungbowa shared the information with journalists in Benin City, the Edo State capital on Friday. He said three of these vehicles have been recovered less than a day after the group was inaugurated. Okungbowa assured the Edo people that the committee was determined to recover the missing government vehicles. According to him, bags of rice and garri meant to be palliatives from the Federal Government for the people of the state were discovered in one of the three vehicles recovered. Governor Monday Okpebholo – of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and who recently took over from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) government – had set up the committee on Thursday to recover all government vehicles said to be in private custody.

 Supreme Court Rejects Suit Seeking To Compel FG To Account For Gas Earnings The Supreme Court has struck out a suit by the 36 state governments seeking to among others, compel the Federal Government to account for its earnings from the sale of liquefied natural gas, natural gas liquids and related products since 1999. In a unanimous judgment, a seven-member panel of the court, presided over by Justice Uwani Abba-Aji held that the court lacked the original jurisdiction to hear and determine the suit, which has the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) as the sole defendant. In the lead judgment, Justice Mohammed Lawal Garba upheld the preliminary objection raised against the suit by the AGF and held that the subject of the case had been dealt with by the Supreme Court in its earlier decision in the case of the Attorney General of Bauchi State against the AGF. The National Publicity Secretary of LP, Obiora Ifoh, clarified the party’s position in a statement issued in Abuja, on Friday. Ifoh’s rebuttal was in response to a viral video where a popular human rights lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, claimed the party’s leadership was in cahoots with Tinubu’s loyalists to actualise his return to the State House in 2027.
