 Taraba: Police Commissioner Calls for Peaceful Coexistence Between Herders and Farmers The Taraba State Commissioner of Police, Ukachi Peter Opara, has urged for greater peace and understanding between herders and farmers in the state. During a meeting with the leadership of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) in Jalingo on Thursday, Opara highlighted the importance of dialogue and cooperation for long-term development. He emphasized that peaceful coexistence between these groups is crucial for their livelihoods and for fostering economic growth and stability in the state and the nation. Opara commended MACBAN for its readiness to collaborate with the police in promoting peace and security in Taraba.       Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar is in touch with the parties involved in the months-long detention of journalist and human rights activist, Agba Jalingo. Segun Showunmi, Atiku’s spokesperson gave the hint in a post on his official Twitter handle: @SegunShowunmi on Saturday. The former Vice President’s aide wrote: “The Agba Jalingo case is most embarrassing and extremely regrettable. I can assure you all that HE @Atiku Abubakar is working with all parties to get a resolution. As soon as the court is back from its recess, the matter will come to a much more desirable outcome”.        Justice Ibrahim Tanko-Muhammad, Chief Justice of Nigeria, CJN, on Wednesday advocated for teaching of Sharia law in Nigerian universities in Arabic language. He made the remark while declaring open the 20th Annual Judges Conference held at the Faculty of Law Moot Court, Kongo Campus of Ahmadu Bello University, ABU, Zaria, Kaduna State. The two-day conference was organised by the Centre for Islamic Legal Studies, CILS, ABU in collaboration with National Judicial Institute, NJI, Abuja.       Three suspects linked to murder of a final year student of Theatre Arts at the Lagos State University (LASU) identified as Favour Seun Daley-Oladele, have been reportedly arrested by the police. The deceased who was reportedly pregnant was allegedly killed on December 8 at Ikoyi Ile community in Ikire, Osun State. Favour was allegedly killed by an ex-student of LASU, Owolabi Adeeko in collaboration with his mother Mrs Adeeko and one Prophet Segun Phillip, said to be a serial money ritualist.      Lagos State Governor Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu has reassured Lagosians of his administration's commitment to rid the State of traffic gridlock. Sanwo-Olu gave the assurance Saturday evening while inspecting the removal of 2nd Lekki roundabout as part of Junction improvements for free flow of vehicular movements along the Lekki corridors. The State government has embarked on the removal of some roundabouts identified as the major causes of traffic gridlock being experienced by motorists. Four roundabouts including Ikotun, 2nd roundabout on the Lekki-Epe Expressway, Allen Avenue roundabout and Maryland will be removed to pave the for road expansion and free flow of traffic.       The Lagos State Government has strongly appealed to all health care providers including public and private health facilities operating in the State to stop the trend of rejecting gunshot victims and other trauma patients on the excuse of requiring a police report or the need to provide evidence of funds before commencing treatment. The State Commissioner for Health, Prof. Akin Abayomi made the appeal today while reacting to investigations by the Ministry of Health which revealed that some health facilities in the State are in the habit of rejecting or delaying care to trauma victims which has in some cases resulted in avoidable loss of lives.
