 Taraba: Police Commissioner Calls for Peaceful Coexistence Between Herders and Farmers The Taraba State Commissioner of Police, Ukachi Peter Opara, has urged for greater peace and understanding between herders and farmers in the state. During a meeting with the leadership of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) in Jalingo on Thursday, Opara highlighted the importance of dialogue and cooperation for long-term development. He emphasized that peaceful coexistence between these groups is crucial for their livelihoods and for fostering economic growth and stability in the state and the nation.  Nigeria ranks 10th in Africa’s most unsafe countries for women Nigeria has been ranked 10th  in the list of Africa’s most unsafe countries for women, according to global Women Peace and Security Index 2023. In the list, the Central African Republic ranks number one while DR Congo and South Sudan rank second and third respectively. However, the smallest country in Africa, Seychelles ranks number one in Africa’s safest countries for women followed by Cape Verde and South Africa. The 2023 edition of the global Women Peace and Security Index (WPS Index) scores and ranks 177 countries in terms of women’s inclusion, justice, and security. No country performs perfectly on the WPS Index and the results reveal wide disparities across countries, regions, and indicators.  Nkechi Blessing calls for safety measures on Third Mainland Bridge Nollywood star Nkechi Blessing has urged the Lagos State government to implement safety measures on the recently renovated Third Mainland Bridge to prevent accidents and fatalities. Her appeal comes in the wake of the tragic death of Akintoye Benson, an aide to the chairman of the Lagos Chapter of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), MC Oluomo, who reportedly lost his life in a car crash on the bridge on Thursday, March 7, 2024.  Today was the funeral service and internment ceremony of my dear friend, Herbert, his wife, Doreen, and their son, Chizi.  We gathered to pay our respects, sharing heartfelt eulogies and offering support and solace to the family during this difficult time.  Though the pain of loss remains, the memories we hold dear of Herbert Wigwe, his wife, and their son will always keep their spirit alive in our hearts. KENTUCKY MAN FLEES WHILE THE JURY WAS DELIBERATING HIS ATTEMPTED MURDER CASE. (PHOTO).

 Kentucky man flees while the jury was deliberating his attempted murder case.  If he would have stuck around he would have heard it was actually a hung jury. Now he's a wanted man. Again.  Vernon Jackson was being held in home incarceration via an ankle monitor. He was in the process of court proceedings for the charges of attempted murder in a Louisville courtroom. After the trial concluded and the jury was deliberating a verdict in the case, Jackson decided he wasn't going to wait around to hear his fate. Jackson cut off his ankle monitor and fled before the jury returned with a verdict. Ironically the jury could not reach a consensus and the trial ended in a hung jury. However due to Jackson's rash decision to run, he has had a new arrest warrant issued and an additional $250,000 added to his bond.  NIGERIAN ARMY TROOPS RAID TERRORISTS' CAMP IN SAMBISA, NEUTRALISE TERRORISTS, RECOVER WEAPONS Nigerian Army troops deployed to the North East as part of the ongoing counter-insurgency operations on Friday, March 8, 2024, conducted a successful raid operation on a terrorists' camp in the Arra area of Zambisa Forest. During the operation, the troops gallantly neutralized 3 terrorists, including a suicide bomber and destroyed their enclave in the area. After a thorough search, troops recovered 2 AK-47 Rifles and a suicide vest. In another operation, troops conducted a clearance operation in the Buluwa Area of Kukawa Local Government Area of Borno State, where they uncovered and destroyed another terrorists' camp.  EFCC Grills 10 Suspected Oil Thieves in Uyo   The Uyo Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC, has commenced investigation of ten suspected illegal dealers in petroleum products, who were arrested onboard a ship loaded with 100 metric tonnes of petroleum product without an appropriate licence. The ten suspects were arrested on board MT Queen Hansal Ship and handed over to the Command by the Nigerian Navy Forward Operating Base Ibaka, Akwa Ibom State, along with 100 metric tons of petroleum products.  Bandits Abduct Tsangaya Students In Sokoto Bandits have reportedly kidnapped an unspecified number of Tsangaya students at Gidan Bakuso in Gada local government area of Sokoto state. Our reporter gathered that the students were abducted from their school around 1:am on Saturday. The propiretor of the school, Liman Abubakar, told our reporter that 15 students were unaccounted so far but “we are still counting.” According to Abubakar, the bandits invaded the town around 1am, shot one person and abducted a woman.    PANIC IN EKITI AS HUMAN’S DEAD BODY FOUND IN UREJE RIVER Panic on Saturday gripped the residents of Ureje, a suburb of Ado Ekiti metropolis, as residents woke up to see a lifeless body of a human being inside Ureje River. Ureje River is located along Federal polytechnic and Afe Babalola University area of Ado Ekiti capital city and where the Ureje River has its bridge and main valley. A witness, who has his company around the area, said the Friday evening’s torrential downpour that raised Ureje River’s water level watched the corpse down to the area He said they have reported the incident at the Police Station at Odo Ado Area, while efforts were being intensified to contact the state government on the matter. As at the time of filing this report, the dead body was still floating inside the water. Also, the gender of the victim could not be ascertained.
