Human Rights Lawyer Demands ₦100 Million Compensation for Teen Freed from Wrongful Detention Human rights lawyer Inibehe Effiong has called on the Nigerian Police Force to pay ₦100 million in compensation to 17-year-old Alabi Quadri, who was wrongfully detained for months on armed robbery charges. Quadri, who gained attention during the 2023 elections for standing in front of former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi’s convoy, was freed on Thursday by Magistrate Adetola Olorunfemi in Lagos, following legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), Dr. Babajide Martins. Speaking to journalists in Apapa after the ruling, Effiong praised the DPP for upholding justice but condemned the police for what he described as a “corrupt scheme” to frame the teenager.
