APPLE'S STATEMENT ON MINERALS MUST BE 'VERIFIED'-DRC. (PHOTO).

 Apple's statement on minerals must be 'verified': DRC International lawyers for the Democratic Republic of Congo welcomed Apple's decision to stop sourcing minerals from there due to worsening conflict, but said they would press ahead with their cases against the company in Europe. Criminal complaints were filed against Apple subsidiaries in France and Belgium this week on behalf of DR Congo, accusing the tech firm of using conflict minerals in its supply chain, Reuters reported. DR Congo is a major source of tin, tantalum and tungsten, so-called 3T minerals used in computers and mobile phones. But some artisanal mines are run by armed groups involved in massacres, rapes and other crimes, say UN experts and rights groups. 'Satisfaction and caution' Apple said on Tuesday that it strongly disputes the claims and has told suppliers they must not use the minerals in question sourced from DR Congo or Rwanda.       Her Majesty The Queen has opened a new session of Parliament this morning. This is the 65th occasion on which Her Majesty has opened Parliament - every year of her reign except 1959 and 1963 (whilst pregnant). The Duke and Duchess will learn about Pakistan’s dynamic culture and rich history on the Royal visit, as well as celebrate a long, historical relationship between both countries. Pakistan is part of The Commonwealth and Her Majesty The Queen, as Head of The Commonwealth, first visited the country in 1961 and again in 1997. The Duke of Edinburgh has been Patron of the Pakistan Society since 1953. The President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan is also Patron. EFCC ARRESTS TWO FOR ILLEGAL BROADCAST OF DSTV SIGNAL.{PHOTOS}.#PRESS RELEASE.

       The EFCC, Uyo Zonal office on Monday October 14, 2019 arrested two staffs of Communication Trend Limited, Prisca Isaac, Sales Representative and Nwosu Precious, Technician at 111 Atiku Abubakar Avenue, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State for alleged illegal transmission of broadcast signals of Multichoice (DSTV) to Uyo and environs without authorisation. The company allegedly charges Three Thousand Five Hundred Naira (N3, 500.00) and S even Thousand Five Hundred Naira (N7, 500.00) monthly as subscription fees to its customers using DSTV and other decoders without permission. The arrest followed a petition alleging breach of Multichoice's English Premiership broadcast rights. During the arrest, the following items were recovered: 2 DSTV Decoders, 1 GOTV Decoder, 28 Well-AV encoders, 3 Transmitters mode ADC Telecommunications, 3 Modulators, 2 UBS DTX 1008 Transmitters, 2 Startimes Decoders, 1 Omovo TV Decoder, 1Trendy TV Decoder, 1 CTL N7, 500 Subscription Recharge Cards...

      Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has inaugurated the State Task Force for the Recovery of Government Properties, with a charge to members of the Task Force to work diligently for the state. Inaugurating the committee on Monday, Governor Wike said several Permanent Secretaries and top civil servants have retired from service, but are still illegally occupying Government Quarters. He noted that several attempts to ensure that they vacate Government Quarters, so that serving officers can reside in such houses have met with resistance from the retired senior civil servants. "You are by this inauguration required to recover all Government Properties illegally occupied by some persons. "There are many civil servants who have retired from service, but are still occupying Government buildings several years after retirement. EFCC,INTERPOL TO PARTNER ON MARITIME SECURITY.{PHOTOS}.#PRESS RELEASE.

     The EFCC is to collaborate with the Interpol to promote maritime security through a special project, tagged “Project AGWE.” The project which will involve Nigeria, Ivory Coast, Togo, Ghana and Benin is aimed at ridding Nigeria and the other countries involved of economic sabotage in the maritime environment. The disclosure was made on Friday, October 11, 2019 at the EFCC headquarter by the acting Chairman of the Commission, Ibrahim Magu, alongside Anastasia Kirillas, Interpol’s Analyst and leader of Interpol’s delegation, that came on a working visit to the Commission.One more photo below.

           Operatives of the EFCC, Ibadan zonal office, on Monday, October 14, 2019, raided a Osogbo-based nightclub notorious for hosting parties for suspected internet fraudsters. The raid led to the arrest of 94 suspects and confiscation of 19 exotic cars, laptops, scores of sophisticated mobile phones and other items. Popularly known as ‘Club Secret Underground’, the nightclub is located on the Ibadan-Iwo Expressway of the Osun State capital. The wee-hour operation was sequel to an intelligence report hinting that the suspected internet fraudsters were organising a night party for Sunday, October 13, during which some of them intended to celebrate their loots. A discreet operation on the club had earlier been carried out to ascertain the authenticity of the intelligence. The confirmation, therefore, led to the mega raid effected this morning. Prior to his current appointment, Oduyoye was Deputy Director, Traffic Management & Transport Safety at the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA).        Lagos State Government over the weekend announced the repositioning of the Environmental Sanitation Corps (LAGESC), formerly known as KAI, to spearhead the State’s enforcement of zero-tolerance for indiscriminate waste disposal, street trading, erection of temporary structures on drainage setbacks, open defecation and checkmating the activities of commercial motorcyclists who ply pedestrian walkways. The disclosure was made by the Commissioner for The Environment and Water Resources, Mr. Tunji Bello during his familiarisation visit to the Head Office of LAGESC at Safety Arena Complex, Oshodi alongside the Special Adviser on Drainage and Water Resources, Engineer Joe Igbokwe.
