APPLE'S STATEMENT ON MINERALS MUST BE 'VERIFIED'-DRC. (PHOTO).

 Apple's statement on minerals must be 'verified': DRC International lawyers for the Democratic Republic of Congo welcomed Apple's decision to stop sourcing minerals from there due to worsening conflict, but said they would press ahead with their cases against the company in Europe. Criminal complaints were filed against Apple subsidiaries in France and Belgium this week on behalf of DR Congo, accusing the tech firm of using conflict minerals in its supply chain, Reuters reported. DR Congo is a major source of tin, tantalum and tungsten, so-called 3T minerals used in computers and mobile phones. But some artisanal mines are run by armed groups involved in massacres, rapes and other crimes, say UN experts and rights groups. 'Satisfaction and caution' Apple said on Tuesday that it strongly disputes the claims and has told suppliers they must not use the minerals in question sourced from DR Congo or Rwanda. FACEBOOK SCAM: EFCC DOCKS MAN TODAY FOR N3.2M FRAUD.{PHOTOS}.#PRESS RELEASE.

      The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on May 22, 2019 arraigned one Abubakar Isiyaku before Justice Sa'adatu Ibrahim of the Federal High Court sitting in Kano, Kano State on a one-count charge of obtaining money by false pretence. Isiyaku was arrested by EFCC operatives following a petition by the nominal complainant Mohammad Adamu Babandaji, who alleged that sometimes in April 2017, he received a friend request on FaceBook  from the defendant who posed as a former class mate whom he went to school with. Babandaji innocently accepted the friend request thinking that it was his lady friend. Subsequently, Isiyaku started making financial requests from the complainant up to the point that he asked to borrow N3,260,000 which Babandaji graciously transferred to him via his First Bank account. Isiyaku claimed that his sister was ill and that he needed some money for treatment. After making the payment, Babandji realised that he had been duped....

OYO, FG FINE-TUNE AGREEMENT ON PROPOSED N35.9BN IBADAN INLAND DRY PORT.{PHOTOS}.#PRESS RELEASE.

         The Oyo State Government and the Federal Government have fine-tuned agreement on the proposed $99,665,626 (N35.9bn) Ibadan Inland Dry Port, which is expected to ease the pressure on the Apapa Seaport and the perennial gridlock on the Oshodi-Apapa Expressway. The agreement was signed by the Governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi on behalf of the state, while the Transport Minister, Mr Rotimi Amaechi, signed on behalf of the FG at a brief ceremony, at the governor’s office, Ibadan, on Tuesday. The minister was in company with the Executive Secretary, Nigeria Shippers Council, Mr Hassan Bello; with the team later embarking on an inspection tour of the light rail project site, along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.       The Rivers State Governorship Election Tribunal has dismissed the petition filed by the Rivers State 2019 Labour Party Governorship Candidate, Chief Isaac Wonwu against the 2019 Electoral Victory of the Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike. Chairman of the Rivers State Governorship Election Tribunal, Justice O.K Kaigama dismissed the petition following a motion  for withdrawal, moved by counsel to Chief Wonwu, Mr Uche Ulemene. Justice Kaigama also stated that the Labour Party Governorship Candidate withdrew the petition on his own volition and that there were no illegal agreements that necessitated the withdrawal. Counsel to the Rivers State Labour Party Governorship Candidate sought the leave of the Tribunal to withdraw the petition and strike out same.       In commemoration of the 2019 World Facility Management Day, Lagos State Infrastructure Asset Management Agency (LASIAMA) has advocated for a better and sustainable maintenance culture with the launch of ‘Lagos State is Maintenance Cultured’ initiative. The initiative aimed at improving the maintenance of government-owned facilities across all 20 local governments and 37 local council development areas i n the State will be overseen by officials of the agency.
