 PSC Promotes Over 8,000 Police Officers On Wednesday, the Police Service Commission (PSC) approved the promotion of 8,053 senior police officers. Earlier in the week, 11 Commissioners of Police were promoted to the rank of Assistant Inspectors General (AIGs), and 16 Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs) were elevated to the rank of Commissioners of Police (CPs). Additionally, 21 Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs) were promoted to DCPs, and 57 Chief Superintendents of Police (CSPs) moved up to Assistant Commissioners (ACPs). According to a statement by the PSC's spokesperson, Ikechukwu Ani, the total number of promotions included 1,348 Superintendents of Police (SPs) promoted to Chief Superintendents, 876 Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs) promoted to Superintendents, and 5,829 Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASPs) promoted to DSPs. Daddy Showkey, Baba Fryo inspired me to pursue music--- Don Jazzy Veteran producer and singer, Michael Collins Ajereh aka Don Jazzy has revealed that his role model while growing up in Ajegunle, was legendary musician Daddy Showkey. The Mavins record label boss said Daddy Showkey and “Dem go dey pose” crooner Baba Fryo were his inspiration to pursue music. Don Jazzy started his music career in church as an instrumentalist because he couldn’t afford studio sessions. The music executive disclosed this while featuring as a guest on the latest episode of the Leaderboard podcast hosted by Fisayo Fosudo. Tobi Amusan wins 100m Hurdles at Silesia Diamond League The Nigerian star produced a strong finish to win the competitive women’s 100m hurdles at the Silesia Diamond League in Chorzow, Poland. The world record holder (12.12 seconds) finished ahead of the stacked field in 12.34s to equal the meeting record. She was just ahead of her rivals for next month’s Budapest World Athletics Championships, with United States of America’s Keni Harrison second in 12.35s and Nia Ali, another American, third in 12.38s. #Ondo: Kingsmakers ignore oracle, elect Oba Crisis is rocking the Akotogbo community in Irele Local Government Area of Ondo State as kingmakers in the area have reportedly ignored the decision of the oracle and declared Prince Micheal Elumaro Akinfolarin as Oba- elect. It was gathered that the Ifa oracle picked Prince Adeteye Akindele from Igodan-moko Ruling House as the Larogbo of Akotogbo to replace the late Oba Turoti Martins Jola-Ade who died in 2009. But the selection of Prince Akinfolarin was done under the supervision of the Secretary of the Local Government, Mr. Oladipupo Temenu on behalf of the council Chairman Mr. Olusegun Ajimotokin. Prince Akinfolarin scored four votes out of five accredited kingmakers that participated in the exercise. Navy uncovers massive oil theft in Rivers The Nigerian Navy has excavated and dismantled the oil equipment of a suspected oil syndicate on Oil Mining Lease-18 in Elem Krakama Creek in Degema Local Government Area of Rivers State. The Navy said it dismantled the equipment used in siphoning crude precisely on Oil Well 17 operated by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited. The Commander, Nigerian Navy Ship Pathfinder, Commodore Suleman Ibrahim said its Patrol Helicopter on July 11, 2023. spotted the illicit activities. Ibrahim who led newsmen to the site on Saturday said the discovery led to the dismantling of the multiple pipelines buried in the ground. He also said four suspects engaging in the illegal oil bunkering were arrested in a separate incident. He said excavation exercise was done in collaboration with the NNPC, and expressed shock at the level of expertise deployed by the suspects. Wife pours hot water on husband’s worker, faces trial  woman, Esther Godwin, has been arrested by men of the Ondo State Police Command for allegedly pouring hot water on one Endurance Samuel, whom she alleged of having illicit affairs with her husband. The incident happened in Idanre, Idanre Local Government Area of the state, while the victim was currently receiving treatment at the hospital, where she was rushed, after the incident. According to a source in the community, the 39-year-old food vendor, who was said to be suspecting the victim with her husband, invited the victim to her shop to collect a keg of palm oil, her husband was owing her (victim). On getting to the shop, the suspect allegedly attacked her with hot water.   Ogun school building collapses after heavy rainfall A one-storey school building in Agbado, in the Ifo Local Government Area of Ogun state collapsed on Saturday afternoon during heavy rainfall. Our correspondent gathered that the affected building contained ten classrooms belonging to Agbado District Comprehensive High School in the Ifo area of the state. The building collapsed after the heavy rainfall on Saturday which also damaged some roads in the area. It was further gathered that the building was donated as one of her constituency projects by former Senator Iyabo Obasanjo-Bello while she was representing Ogun Central Senatorial District at the Senate between 2007 and 2011.
