 Taraba: Police Commissioner Calls for Peaceful Coexistence Between Herders and Farmers The Taraba State Commissioner of Police, Ukachi Peter Opara, has urged for greater peace and understanding between herders and farmers in the state. During a meeting with the leadership of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) in Jalingo on Thursday, Opara highlighted the importance of dialogue and cooperation for long-term development. He emphasized that peaceful coexistence between these groups is crucial for their livelihoods and for fostering economic growth and stability in the state and the nation. Opara commended MACBAN for its readiness to collaborate with the police in promoting peace and security in Taraba. ISHERI KIDNAP: AMBODE ORDERS PROMPT ARREST OF CULPRITS+COMMISERATES WITH FAMILIES OF KILLED SECURITY GUARDS.

            Lagos State Governor,Mr Akinwunmi Ambode today thursday directed the State Police Command to ensure prompt arrest of kidnappers who sstruck yesterday evening in Isheri area of the State killing three security guards. The kidnappers were said to have also abducted the Secretary of the Isheri North Residents Association,Mr Dayo Adekoya. A statement issued by the Commissioner for Information and Strategy,Mr Steve Ayorinde,said Governor Ambode has already directed the Commissioner of Police,Mr Fatai Owoseni to move decisively and promptly to arrest the kidnappers. Governor Ambode,according to the statement,specifically commiserated with the families of the security guards that lost their lives to the unfortunate incident,and assured that government is on top of the situation and working with security agencies to ensure early release of the victim.                  The attention of the Nigerian Army has been drawn to a video clip in which two soldiers were seen maltreating a physically challenged person for allegedly wearing a camouflage shirt.We wish to inform the public that the incident took place on tuesday 7th February 2017,at Onitsha,Anambra State. In line with our zero tolerance for acts of indiscipline and unprofessional conducts especially in relation to violation of human rights,we wish to further state that the soldiers involved have since been identified and apprehended. They have also been charged for assault by their Commanding Officer. Similarly,troops have been warned to desist from such acts that infringe on human rights and cast serious aspersions on the good image of the Nigerian Army.                   Six properties traced to some suspects alleged to have diverted about Three Billion Naira {N3,000,00,000.00k} Amnesty Funds in the Niger Delta have been confiscated by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission,EFCC. The suspects,comprising top brass former militants and bankers that allegedly facilitated the diversion of the funds,are still being investigated by operatives of the EFCC in Port Harcourt,Rivers State,for their involvement in the diversion of funds meant for more than 1500 former militants.However,six properties traced to them were on wednesday attached in Benin-City,Edo State. The properties,all bungalows,were attached at different locations in Benin-City,Five of the properties were attached at Banker's Estate,off Amowie Street,Benin-City and the last one was attached at Ogbighoko Quuarters,Benin-City.
