 Zamfara Governor’s Wife Facilitates Marriage for 100 Orphans, Offers Support to Grooms The wife of the Zamfara State Governor, Huriyya Dauda Lawal, has overseen the marriage of 100 orphaned girls in the state. The brides, who were well cared for prior to the ceremony, received full attention for their beautification. Each bride’s dowry, amounting to 151,000 Naira, was covered by the Governor’s wife. In addition, Huriyya Dauda Lawal provided essential household items, including furniture such as cushions, beds, wardrobes, mattresses, and kitchen utensils. Furthermore, she offered financial assistance of N50,000 to each groom to help them start their businesses and achieve self-sufficiency. Hajiya Lawal encouraged the brides to respect their husbands and practice patience. She also assured them that the Zakkat and Endowment Board would be available to offer support should any marital issues arise.

       The Lagos State Government has presented keys to 150 new homeowners under the Rent-to-Own Policy, thereby increasing the total number of housing units already allocated to Lagosians under the Scheme to 650. Speaking today at the hand-over ceremony to the 4th set of allottees of the Rent-To-Own Housing scheme, the State Commissioner for Housing, Prince Gbolahan Lawal explained that the State government was not just providing accommodation but using the various housing schemes as major means of economic empowerment for residents of the State, especially young people. According to him, the Scheme is aimed at ensuring that all Lagosians irrespective of status, income and affiliation have access to decent and affordable housing in order to improve their quality of life.         The Enugu zonal office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Friday 11th May, 2018 arraigned the trio of Clementina Ndukwe, Anthony Njoku and Alexander Umunna before Justice Lewis Alagoa of the Federal High Court, Owerri, Imo State on six count charge bordering on Conspiracy and Currency Counterfeiting to the tune of N1, 147, 000 (One million, One Hundred and Forty Seven Thousand Naira) contrary to sec tion 6(2) of the Counterfeit Currency (Special Provisions) Act, Cap C35, L.F.N. 2004 and punishable under section 5(1) (c) of the same Act. A case of conspiracy and currency counterfeiting was reported to the Commission on 12th April, 2018 by the Department of State Services, DSS Imo State command, where it was alleged that some group of persons were trading in counterfeit banknotes. EFCC ARRESTS PORT HARCOURT TRADER FOR N10MILLION AGRIC LOAN SCAM. {PHOTO}.

        Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, have arrested a Port Harcourt's foodstuff seller for defrauding a victim the sum of N10, 070,000( Ten Million, Seventy Thousand Naira only).   The suspect, Mrs Faith Dickson, was alleged to have scammed Mr. Ossai Napoleon the sum of N10, 070,000 by introducing him to a non- existing Agricultural Loan Scheme meant to support him finance some pre ferred agricultural practices. Napoleon claimed that he paid the money in nine different installments into the bank accounts of the suspects and two of her allies: Obile Godstime and Fidelis Ejeagwu. According to him, the payments were made between 2014 and 2017 and nothing had accrued to him through the phony Scheme till date.  Dickson, a foodstuff seller at Shell pipeline, Rukpokwu, Port Harcourt, Rivers State, is undergoing interrogation and would be charged to court soon.

      According to sources, who just sent in this photos with the caption '' An Abuja-based businessman, Chinedu Nzegwu, has been beaten to death by unknown evil men in Enugu State. This was made known by his friends, colleagues and former schoolmates who took to their Facebook accounts to mourn his untimely death.Chinedu, who lives in Abuja until his death, is a former student of Dennis Memorial Grammar School DMGS, Onitsha, Anambra State and a graduate of the University of Port-Harcourt.He was reportedly attacked by yet-to-be-identified people who left him for death after hitting him with a big stick on the head.It was gathered that the sad incident happened few days before his planned return to Abuja.Meanwhile, reason for his killing is not yet known''.

IVTEC MATRICULATES 123 PIONEER STUDENTS IN KWARA STATE.

      The International Vocational, Training and Entrepreneurship College (IVTEC), Ajase-Ipo has matriculated 123 pioneer students, with a pledge to focus on creating jobs after the training. The number includes indigent students, who are beneficiaries of the scholarship provided by the Kwara State Government and drawn from the 16 local governments (LGs) of the state. Speaking at the matriculation ceremony on Thursday, the acting rector of IVTEC, Dr Ade Somide disclosed that 125 students were admitted but only 123 of them have commenced training at the College. He added that 10 independent students, who benefited from the 70 per cent reduction in tuition fee approved by Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed, were also part of the matriculating students. Somide further explained that the training which is a three-month special certificate programme cuts across 14 different programmes in 7 departments of the College.       President Muhammadu Buhari will on Monday, May 14, 2018, declare open the 8th Annual General Meeting and Conference of the Heads of Anti-corruption Agencies in Commonwealth Africa. The conference will hold at the Transcorp Hilton, Abuja at 9 am. The 5 –day conference which is jointly organised by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC and the Commonwealth Secret ariat will be a forum for discussing burning issues of asset recovery and return.It will also afford the relevant stakeholders in the fight against corruption the opportunity to establish and strengthen ties with Law Enforcement Agencies in Commonwealth Africa.The conference will foster collaboration in anti-corruption efforts in the region and promote peer learning and exchange of best practices in the fight against corruption.President Buhari will deliver the keynote address at the opening ceremony. EFCC ARRESTED 12 YAHOO YAHOO BOYS EARLIER TODAY AT CLUB 57 IKOYI.{PHOTOS}

      As part of efforts to stem the tide of cyber crimes, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Lagos Zonal office, in the early hours of Friday, May 11, 2018 arrested over 12 suspected internet fraudsters in the Ikoyi area of Lagos.   The EFCC operatives stormed the popular Club 57 on Awolowo Way, Ikoyi, where the suspected "yahoo yahoo boys" were rounded up, following intelligence report.  While some of the suspects  abandoned their exotic cars to avoid arrest, some others put up resistance, thereby turning the environ into a war-like zone of sorts.However, a total 10 cars were recovered from the suspects during raid that lasted about three hours.  The suspects will soon be charged to court when investigations are concluded.More photos below.

Today marked the end of The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall's visit to France and Greece, with the couple making several visits around the island of Crete. Their Royal Highnesses toured the Knossos Archaeological Site – which was the centre of the Minoan culture of Bronze Age Crete in 7,000 BC. The Prince of Wales visited the Heraklion Development Agency, which is currently supporting over 700 refugees across Crete, and was briefed on their current project to in tegrate refugees into Cretian society. Accompanied by the Mayor of Archanes and Governor of Crete, The Prince and The Duchess later joined a Cretian celebration where they toured stalls showcasing local produce and crafts as well as local initiatives and entrepreneurs.More photos below.

NIGERIA SIGNED A MoU WITH THE UNITED STATES GOVT ON THE NAIIS.{PHOTO}.

       Nigeria signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the United States Government, on the Nigeria HIV/AIDS Indicator and Impact Assessment Survey (NAIIS). The survey, which will begin on June 1, 2018, will be the largest population- based study for HIV/AIDS conducted in the world. "Not only are we going to look for HIV, we are also going to look for Hepatitis. We are going to link them up with treatment.
