PSC PROMOTES OVER 8,000 POLICE OFFICERS. (PHOTO).

 PSC Promotes Over 8,000 Police Officers On Wednesday, the Police Service Commission (PSC) approved the promotion of 8,053 senior police officers. Earlier in the week, 11 Commissioners of Police were promoted to the rank of Assistant Inspectors General (AIGs), and 16 Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs) were elevated to the rank of Commissioners of Police (CPs). Additionally, 21 Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs) were promoted to DCPs, and 57 Chief Superintendents of Police (CSPs) moved up to Assistant Commissioners (ACPs). According to a statement by the PSC's spokesperson, Ikechukwu Ani, the total number of promotions included 1,348 Superintendents of Police (SPs) promoted to Chief Superintendents, 876 Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs) promoted to Superintendents, and 5,829 Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASPs) promoted to DSPs.   Judge raises alarm over charms in court Justice Hakeem Oshodi of an Ikeja High Court has warned members of the public to stop leaving charms in his courtroom. Oshodi gave the warning on Monday as the trial of five men charged with the murder of one Ifeanyi Etunmuse began. “No one should leave charms in my courtroom. It should not be repeated. A talisman was found after the last adjourned date in the murder case,” he said. The judge, who referred to the charm as ‘property’, warned the courtroom audience: “Do not leave your property here again. It does not work anymore.” The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Lagos state government brought charges against the five suspects; Atunrase Omolabi, Shittu Olawale, Olaide Opeifa, Olanrewaju Adebiyi aka Maja, and Jamiu Omosanya aka Orobo. Disappointment as its turns out Snoop Dogg’s announcement about quitting smoking was just an ad. Fans and followers of Snoop Dogg have gone to his page to express disappointment after it became clear that he is not quitting smoking.  The rapper surprised the world last week when he announced that he was quitting smoking.  However, today, Nov. 20, he took to his Instagram account to advertise a smokeless stove and explained that was what he mean by going smoke-free.  Many were not pleased and they told him in the comment section that his announcement had motivated people to quit smoking only for it to emerge that he isn’t serious about it. Tension in FESTAC town as govt reveals plan to demolish 677 Houses The Federal Housing Authority (FHA) has revealed a plan to demolish 677 houses, while 744 others will be partially demolished over infringement by a developer in Phase 2, Festac Town, Amuwo-Odofin area of Lagos State. FHA’s South-West Zonal Manager, Mr. Akintola Olagbemiro, disclosed this during a visit to the affected area to assess level of disregard to building codes and the environment. Appeal Court affirms Benue Governor’s victory The Court of Appeal, sitting in Abuja, on Monday, Nov. 20, affirmed the election of Hyacinth Alia as governor of Benue State while dismissing the appeal by the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and its candidate in the last governorship election, Titus Uba.  The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the March 18 governorship election, Titus Uba had approached the appellate court to set aside the judgment of the tribunal which upheld Alia’s election.  At the tribunal, Uba among other things alleged that Alia’s deputy, Samuel Ode, presented a forged certificate to the Independent National Electoral Commission contrary to Section 182(1)(j) of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as amended).  He also claimed that Alia’s name was submitted less than 180 days before the election date, and Ode was also not submitted to INEC after the party conducted a further re-run primary election.  Alia contested on the platform of the...

Navy Destroy 15,775 Litres Of Stolen Crude Oil In Ondo State. Men of the Nigerian Navy Forward Operating Base (FOB) in Igbokoda, Ondo State, over the weekend, intercepted and destroyed 15,775 liters of stolen crude oil in the Ilaje axis of the state. The Commanding Officer of the base, Captain Wasuku Alushi, who estimated the value of the products to be N13,251,000, said the operation was carried out by the anti-crude Oil Theft (COT) patrol team. According to Commander Humphrey Nnaji, who spoke on behalf of Alushi, the products were destroyed by the mandate of the joint task force Operation Delta Safe on COT.
