PSC PROMOTES OVER 8,000 POLICE OFFICERS. (PHOTO).

 PSC Promotes Over 8,000 Police Officers On Wednesday, the Police Service Commission (PSC) approved the promotion of 8,053 senior police officers. Earlier in the week, 11 Commissioners of Police were promoted to the rank of Assistant Inspectors General (AIGs), and 16 Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs) were elevated to the rank of Commissioners of Police (CPs). Additionally, 21 Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs) were promoted to DCPs, and 57 Chief Superintendents of Police (CSPs) moved up to Assistant Commissioners (ACPs). According to a statement by the PSC's spokesperson, Ikechukwu Ani, the total number of promotions included 1,348 Superintendents of Police (SPs) promoted to Chief Superintendents, 876 Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs) promoted to Superintendents, and 5,829 Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASPs) promoted to DSPs. ACTING PRESIDENT OSINBAJO TO INAUGURATE $1.5BILLION INDORAMA FERTILIZER PLANT IN PORT HARCOURT,TOMORROW.

                  Acting President Yemi Osinbajo, SAN, will inaugurate a new world-class fertilizer plant built by Indorama Eleme Fertilizer and Chemicals Limited, tomorrow in Port Harcourt, Rivers State. The plant with production capacity for 1.5 million Metric Tons of Urea fertilizer is considered the world’s largest single-train Urea plant. Eleme Petrochemicals Company Ltd, now Indorama Eleme Fertilizer and Chemicals Limited was privatized in 2006 after the sale of Federal Government’s 75 percent shares to a core investor through a competitive bidding process. The Plant has a production capacity of 4000 metric tons (MT) of nitrogenous fertilizer per day or 1.5 MT per annum and was built with an investment of USD 1.5 billion. The fertilizer plant is supported by a Port Terminal at the nearby Onne Port Complex, and a Gas Pipeline of 83.5KM for gas supply. The accused person allegedly obtained the sum of N100,000 (One Hundred Thousand Naira Only) from the account of one Jummai Ruqayya Mohammed by pretending to be a staff of GT Bank.

Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode on Tuesday said that the N25billion Employment Trust Fund (ETF) set up by his administration has successfully empowered over 4000 small and medium scale businesses in the last two years as a means to boost the economy of the State.        The EFCC, on Wednesday, July 26, 2017, returned a parcel containing a camcorder to the Federal Office of Criminal Investigation, Germany, otherwise known as BKA. The Canon E0S C100 camcorder was returned to the BKA through its representative in Lagos, Damilola Adewale, by the Head of Operations, EFCC Lagos zonal office, Garba Dugum. The Commission had taken over the parcel, following a petition received from the BKA on July 20, 2017. One more photo below.

          Justice Okon Abang of the Federal High Court, Maitama, Abuja has adjourned to October 23, 2017 for continuation of trial of a case involving a former Chief of Air Staff, Air Chief Alex S. Badeh. He is standing trial along with Iyalikam Nigeria Limited on a 10-count charge bordering on abuse of office, criminal breach of trust and money laundering to the tune of N3.97billion brought against him by the EFCC. The court had on the last sitting, July 4, 2017 fixed today for arguments for and against the admissibility of documents that the nineteenth prosecution witness, Abubakar Madaki, made reference to in the course of his testimony, but was objected to by the defence.

         A vacation judge, Justice Chuka Obiozor, sitting at the Federal High Court in Ikoyi, Lagos, on Wednesday, July 26, 2017, granted an application filed by a former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Olajumoke Akinjide, for the release of her international passport to enable her travel abroad for medical treatment. Akinjide and one Olanrewaju Otiti had been arraigned on June  22, 2017 before Justice J.O. Abdul-Malik of the Federal High Court sitting in Ibadan, Oyo State on an amended 12-count charge bordering on money laundering to the tune of N650million. The accused allegedly conspired to receive the money from a former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Allison-Madueke in the build-up to the 2015 general election. The case was adjourned to September 12, 2017 for continuation of trial in Ibadan, Oyo State.

COLLAPSED BUILDING: LASBCA WARNS AGAINST DEVIATION FROM APPROVED BUILDING PLANS.{PHOTO}.

           The Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA) General Manager, Engr. Olalekan Shodeinde has warned building Owners and Developers to desist from adding other floors or structures to old and existing buildings without obtaining necessary approvals which are given after a thorough engineering appraisal and integrity test on the structure. Speaking on the recent collapsed building at No. 3/5 Mass ey Street, Lagos Island, Lagos, Engineer Shodeinde said the building, a four-floor structure built with bricks, collapsed due to foundation failure when the bearing capacity of the soil could not sustain additional structure. The occurrence, he stated, was due to the additional load on the property resulting from a communication mast erected on the building two weeks ago.
