PSC PROMOTES OVER 8,000 POLICE OFFICERS. (PHOTO).

 PSC Promotes Over 8,000 Police Officers On Wednesday, the Police Service Commission (PSC) approved the promotion of 8,053 senior police officers. Earlier in the week, 11 Commissioners of Police were promoted to the rank of Assistant Inspectors General (AIGs), and 16 Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs) were elevated to the rank of Commissioners of Police (CPs). Additionally, 21 Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs) were promoted to DCPs, and 57 Chief Superintendents of Police (CSPs) moved up to Assistant Commissioners (ACPs). According to a statement by the PSC's spokesperson, Ikechukwu Ani, the total number of promotions included 1,348 Superintendents of Police (SPs) promoted to Chief Superintendents, 876 Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs) promoted to Superintendents, and 5,829 Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASPs) promoted to DSPs.      A suspect has been arrested by the Anambra State Police Command in connection with the killing of Chief Frank Tony Igboka, the President General (PG) of Nimo. On Tuesday, April 16th, Chief Anthony Igboka was shot and murdered by gunmen around Nimo market in Njikoka LGA of Anambra State. Following the incident, the police launched an aggressive manhunt of perpetrators of the dastardly act which led to the arrest of the main kingpin one Chigbo Anyaegbu aka (Transformer) ‘m’ aged 27 years of Abba,Nimo in connection with the murder of the late President General. WORKERS DAY: FG DECLARES MAY 1ST PUBLIC HOLIDAY.

       The federal government has declared Wednesday, May 1, as a public holiday to celebrate the 2019 Workers’ Day. The Minister of Interior, Abdulrahman Bello Dambazau, made the declaration through a press statement. Speaking on behalf of the federal government, he congratulated Nigerian workers on their commitment and sacrifice towards building a greater Nigeria. He commended workers’ effort at ensuring the full implementation of the policies and programmes of the government. He said they did this through efficient and effective service delivery to Nigerians and foreigners. Mr Dambazau called for continuous support of Nigerian workers in government’s effort at re-positioning the economy and moving it to the Next Level. He commended them for keeping faith with President Muhammadu Buhari administration’s resolve of building a better Nigeria. The minister wished all Nigerian workers a successful May Day celebration.

         The Saudi authorities have released Zainab Aliyu, a Nigerian student falsely accused of drug trafficking in Saudi Arabia. The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, disclosed the development at a news conference in Abuja on Tuesday. According to him, the Saudi  government had established the innocence of Zainab and the second Nigerian involved in the case, Ibrahim Abubakar will be released tomorrow to the Nigerian Mission in Saudi Arabia. On Monday the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Diaspora, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, said President Muhammadu Buhari had directed the Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, to facilitate her release.       Officials of Lagos State government have arrested three persons connected with the sale of toxic cow skin popularly known as ‘Ponmo’ in Ojo and Iba Local Government and Local Council Development Areas of the State and confiscated a large amount of the poisonous substance. The State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Jide Idris, who disclosed this over the weekend after reviewing the report of preliminary investigation and enforcement carried out on the sale of the toxic ‘Ponmo’, stated that the three persons involved have been charged to Court while samples of the confiscated ‘Ponmo’ have been sent to the NAFDAC Laboratory for further suitability for human consumption test analysis.         One week after the sad demise of Nollywood director and movie producer,   Ifeanyi Onyeabor , Nollywood has been thrown into mourning again after the sudden death of another actor, Prince Dammy Eke. According to reports, Prince Eke who was one of the sons of the Late Eze Gbaka Gbaka of Woji, died April 28th 2019. He was said to have slumped while having drinks with his friends in a sit out bar. He was rushed to the hospital where he was confirmed dead. The cause of death is yet to be ascertained.May his soul rest in peace,Amen.His friends have taken to social media to pay their tributes to him.More photos below.

      The police in Anambra state are currently on the trail of a 24-year-old man identified as Abuchi Onuorah, for allegedly killing his 65-year-old father, Onyiauke Onuorah, in Nando, in the Anambra East Local Government Area of Anambra State and setting the corpse ablaze. A family member said Abuchi killed his father over suspicion that he was responsible for the death of his 51-year-old mother. “The deceased was killed by his son. He claimed that his father was responsible for the death of his 51-year-old mother, Okwundu Onuorah. The deceased was alleged to have used diabolical powers to inflict disease on his wife for flouting his order not to attend the Omugwo (maternity treat) of their daughter, who was recently delivered of a baby. Onyiauke threatened his wife that if she went for their daughter’s Omugwo at Nteje, she would not come back alive. But the wife went against his order.       The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Gombe Zonal Office secured 37 convictions from first January to March 2019.   This was disclosed on Monday, April 29, 2019 by the Zonal Head, Michael Wetkas in a media briefing organised by the zone to acquaint the media with the successes recorded in the first quarter of 2019 by the Gombe Zonal Office of the Commission. Wetkas revealed that the zone in the first quarter, received 81 petitions, out of which it secured 37 convictions and recovered N55.6million in cash. Regarding properties, he said houses valued at N18.8million were forfeited as well as two vehicles whose values are yet to be ascertained.
