PSC PROMOTES OVER 8,000 POLICE OFFICERS. (PHOTO).

 PSC Promotes Over 8,000 Police Officers On Wednesday, the Police Service Commission (PSC) approved the promotion of 8,053 senior police officers. Earlier in the week, 11 Commissioners of Police were promoted to the rank of Assistant Inspectors General (AIGs), and 16 Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs) were elevated to the rank of Commissioners of Police (CPs). Additionally, 21 Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs) were promoted to DCPs, and 57 Chief Superintendents of Police (CSPs) moved up to Assistant Commissioners (ACPs). According to a statement by the PSC's spokesperson, Ikechukwu Ani, the total number of promotions included 1,348 Superintendents of Police (SPs) promoted to Chief Superintendents, 876 Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs) promoted to Superintendents, and 5,829 Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASPs) promoted to DSPs.                  The sack of Babatunde Edu the General Manager of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority,LASTMA,a day after the Governor directed LASTMA to release all seize vehicles in their various yards in the state back to their owners.Such vehicles would however be released after proper documentation have been done by their owners.The Permanent Secretary in the state Ministry of Transportation Oluseyi Whenu urged residents to reciprocate government's gesture by obeying all traffic laws and regulations.He said this was in a bid to ensure free flow of traffic by officials of the State Traffic Management Authority by employing the system of booking traffic offenders,rather than impounding their vehicles which is fraught with a lot of inconveniences.According to another source,after the approval by the governor for Babatunde Edu sack today he was immediately replaced by Bashir Braimoh.

                             According to an emailed statement to day friday by the International Organization for Migration Spokesman Flavio di Giacomo said about 30-40 people drowned in the Mediterranean after a dingy carrying 120-140 Somalis,Sudanese and Nigerians deflated,causing panic on board.The migrants had sailed from Mistrata in Libya,but after 6-7 hours their boat began to deflate and some people fell into the water.There were 91 survivors.

NIGERIAN UNION OF JOURNALIST,PLANS TO DISRUPT THISDAY EVENT TOMORROW FOR NON PAYMENT OF SALARIES.

                 In a statement by the National President of Nigerian Union of Journalists {NUJ},Waheed Odusile said today friday in Lagos that the publisher of Thisday,Mr Nduka Obaigbena,had been notified,and that if the management failed to effect the payment of their outstanding salaries by 2pm today friday September 4,2015,the union would disrupt the organisation's 20th anniversary celebration.According to NAN's report,the anniversary celebration is scheduled to hold on saturday,September 5,at the Eko Hotels and Suites,Victoria Island,Lagos.The statement said that the letter sent to Obaigbenna on wednesday,noted that the action would take place with the full backing of the Nigeria Labour Congress.''There is no going back on the disruption of the company's 20th anniversary celebration except the flamboyant publisher pays his workers by 2pm on friday''.
