 SANWO-OLU AT HARVARD: LAGOS IS INVESTORS' DELIGHT With a GDP of $259b, a 25 million population, four seaports, and friendly government policies, Lagos is an investor’s delight, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has said.  “Lagos is a place where people come in without anything and become somebody. We are a business and commercial powerhouse,” he said on Wednesday.  It was another sales drive for the “State of Aquatic Splendour” at Harvard Business School where Mr. Sanwo-Olu spoke on “Building the Future: Lagos State Infrastructure-led Transformation”. He was a guest in Professor Hakeem Belo-Osagie’s course, “Understanding Africa: Business, Entrepreneurship, Political Economy and the Complexities of a Continent.” Belo-Osagie is a foremost Nigerian investment banker and businessman. THE DEATH TOLL FROM BOKO HARAM ATTACKS IN MAIDUGURI YESTERDAY,IS NOW 37.

                   Boko Haram gunmen killed 37 people in raids on five villages around Maidugury,the capital of Borno state.The Islamist militants,who arrived on motorcycles and in four wheel drive vehicles,fired into houses and shot fleeing locals during wednesday evening and the early hours of yesterday thursday.Malum Idrissa a member of a village defense group known locally as the Civilian Joint Task Force said ''Reports indicated a total of 37 people were killed by the insurgents during separate attacks and the villages attacked were around 90 KM from Maiduguri''.Details of the attack emerged a day after president Muhammadu uhari held a summit with regional counter parts to set up a joint military force to counter Boko Haram.

                         Today June 12,i remembered very well in 1993,then i was still in primary school,how Lagos was in chaos and all my fellow Igbo brothers and sisters were running back home after M.K.O Abiola's presidential win was annulled by General Ibrahim Babangida.So now,Lagos state Governor Akinwunmi Ambode,Prof Akin Oyebode and other activists have challenged President Muhammadu Buhari,to declare June 12 as Democracy Day in the country to immortalise the acclaimed winner of the June 12,1993 Presidential election the late Chief Moshood Kashimao Olawale Abiola.Abode and other activist made these statement today friday at the June 12 rally at the Lagos Television Ground,Ikeja in Lagos.''The June 12 should be declared Democracy Day in Nigeria to honour Abiola.The hope of the people was dashed when the June 12 election was annulled by General Ibrahim Babangida,and what the nation now enjoyed today was rooted in June...
