 Apple's statement on minerals must be 'verified': DRC International lawyers for the Democratic Republic of Congo welcomed Apple's decision to stop sourcing minerals from there due to worsening conflict, but said they would press ahead with their cases against the company in Europe. Criminal complaints were filed against Apple subsidiaries in France and Belgium this week on behalf of DR Congo, accusing the tech firm of using conflict minerals in its supply chain, Reuters reported. DR Congo is a major source of tin, tantalum and tungsten, so-called 3T minerals used in computers and mobile phones. But some artisanal mines are run by armed groups involved in massacres, rapes and other crimes, say UN experts and rights groups. 'Satisfaction and caution' Apple said on Tuesday that it strongly disputes the claims and has told suppliers they must not use the minerals in question sourced from DR Congo or Rwanda. 36 YEAR OLD MAN ARRESTED FOR STRANGLING TWO GRADE SCHOOL AGE CHILDREN. (PHOTO).

 Wamac, Illinois- a 36-year-old man has been arrested for strangling two grade school age children.  Well information is still unfolding, it appears he is being charged with harming three children. We have the most information about the two Elementary school aged children that told authorities about what happened first.  Justin Clegg was arrested today after law enforcement and DCFS investigated two young children who told officials that Klegg had strangled them. Both alleged victims have bruising around their necks and one victim has a busted lip and was scratched on their torso. Officers arrested Clegg while he was at work today at Big Three.  He is being held at the Marion County jail on two felony counts of aggravated battery / strangulation to children.  Several people reached out about this story.  The Kogi State Assembly is requesting the removal of former Governor Yahaya Bello's name from the list of individuals wanted by the EFCC During the plenary session on Tuesday, these points were included in the House's resolutions. This occurred following a presentation by Jibrin Abu, the House member from Ajaokuta State Constituency, who raised an urgent public issue for discussion. In his written plea titled ‘A plea to cease the baseless, frivolous, and untrue smear campaign against former Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello’, the legislator asserted that the anti-corruption agency has been unfairly targeting Bello. “Kogi State, by allocation standard, is not rich so much so that N80.4b will be missing that the State will not be shaken to its foundation. It was a rigorous selection process that screened 89 nominees to fill available positions. Having scaled through that huddles, the 22 successful judges have now been confirmed promoted. Chief Justice of Nigeria, Olukayode Ariwoola approved the promotion on April 2, 2024, and has been forwarded to President Tinubu for appointment. Justice Eberechi Nyesom Wike is the wife of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike.   Again, Dangote slashes diesel, aviation fuel prices to N940, N980.  Dangote Petroleum Refinery on Tuesday announced a further reduction in the prices of both diesel and aviation fuel to N940, and N980 per litre respectively. This is coming in the wake of its widely celebrated price reduction to N1,000 barely two weeks ago. The price change of N940 applies to customers buying five million litres and above from the refinery, while the price of N970 is for customers buying one million litres and above. Speaking on the new development, the Head of Communication, Mr Anthony Chiejina, explained that the new price aligns with the company’s commitment to cushion the effect of economic hardship in Nigeria. “I can confirm to you that Dangote Petroleum Refinery has entered a strategic partnership with MRS Oil and Gas stations, to ensure that consumers get to buy fuel at affordable prices, in all their stations be it Lagos or Maiduguri.   Another video of bullying at Lead British International School  surfaces online.  A video of boy being bullied by other students at the Lead British International School, Abuja has surfaced online.   In the new video shared online, some male students in the school’s uniform can be seen surrounding another boy on his knees. As he stood on his feet, he was slapped on the head before he was whisked away in the nine-second video. This is coming after an initial video of a female student slapping a fellow female student went viral this morning.   The school has since been shut down for 3 days, by authorities after heavy outrage from Nigerians online.

 Police arrest three suspected kidnappers in Nasarawa.  Operatives of the Nasarawa State Police Command have arrested three suspected kidnappers in Karu Local Government Area of the state.   The spokesperson for the command, DSP Ramhan Nansel in a statement issued on Tuesday, April 23, 2024, said the suspects namely Babangida Abdullahi, 29, Mohammed Abubakar, 27, and Yakubu Sani,30, were arrested by operatives attached to the Mararaba ‘A’ Division of the Nigeria Police.   “The suspects allegedly conspired among themselves and placed a call across to one Ibrahim Idris of the same address, an uncle to one of the suspects,” the statement reads.    “They threatened to kidnap him if he doesn’t pay a ransom of N2 million   "Scared of being kidnapped, the victim dropped the total sum requested by the suspects at their preferred location; after which they picked it up and shared it among themselves.”    The statement added that the three suspects hav...

It was gathered that the plane on landing at the Lagos Airport RW18L, skidded off the runway probably due to poor braking action and flooded runway. Passengers who came out of the aircraft were heard thanking God for saving their lives. A Dana Air plane with registration number, 5N BKI on Tuesday crash-landed in Lagos. The aircraft took off from Abuja en route to Lagos. The airline confirmed the development in a statement released by the Head of Corporate Communications, Mr Kingsley Ezenwa. Though Bello was absent for his arraignment, he briefed a team of lawyers who addressed the court on his behalf on Tuesday. A member of his legal team, Mr. Adeola Adedipe, SAN, told the court that his client would have made himself available for the proceedings, but was afraid that he would be arrested. “The defendant wants to come to court but he is afraid that there is an order of arrest hanging on his head,” Adedipe, SAN, submitted.  At about 1am, officers from Pen Cinema Division responded to calls from motorists that somebody was sighted cutting cables.  Abu Ali aged 35 was arrested at Ode Aran bus stop, Ogba, with vandalized cables.  Prosecution follows.

 Enyi Emmanuel went to a filling station at Ile Zik in a Sienna, filled his kegs with diesel worth N120,000 and asked the attendant to go get the POS terminal. He then zoomed off. Alarm was raised.  He abandoned the vehicle and ran away upon sighting a police patrol team on Airport Road, Ikeja. Vehicle and diesel were recovered while investigation led to the arrest of the suspect. He confessed to have succeeded with this modus operandi many times. Prosecution follows.
