PSC PROMOTES OVER 8,000 POLICE OFFICERS. (PHOTO).

 PSC Promotes Over 8,000 Police Officers On Wednesday, the Police Service Commission (PSC) approved the promotion of 8,053 senior police officers. Earlier in the week, 11 Commissioners of Police were promoted to the rank of Assistant Inspectors General (AIGs), and 16 Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs) were elevated to the rank of Commissioners of Police (CPs). Additionally, 21 Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs) were promoted to DCPs, and 57 Chief Superintendents of Police (CSPs) moved up to Assistant Commissioners (ACPs). According to a statement by the PSC's spokesperson, Ikechukwu Ani, the total number of promotions included 1,348 Superintendents of Police (SPs) promoted to Chief Superintendents, 876 Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs) promoted to Superintendents, and 5,829 Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASPs) promoted to DSPs. The Lagos State Government has announced that Eko Bridge inwards the newly re-opened Apongbon Bridge will close for 24 hours on Sunday 16th July, 2023 for immediate remedial palliative works by the Lagos State Public Works in conjunction with Federal Ministry of Works and Housing. A statement issued by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Transportation, Engr. Abdulhafiz Toriola said the 24-hour closure will ensure uninterrupted palliative adjustment of the Bridge. Tricycle operators protest against alleged extortion by touts in Delta Commercial tricycle operators on Saturday staged a warning protest against alleged extortion by touts in the Udu Local Government Area of Delta State. They also accused the Governor of the State, Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, and the Chairman of Udu LGA of allegedly imposing outrageous levies on them. The aggrieved protesters who converged at Jigbale market in the Local Government Area as early as 9 am used their tricycles to block the road leading to Orhunwhorhun community thus preventing vehicular movement in the area. Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta on Saturday condemned the killing of a two-year-old boy, Ivan Omorhiakogbe, allegedly shot by operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA). The governor’s reaction is contained in a condolence message by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Festus Ahon, to the family of the deceased Ivan Omorhiakogbe in Asaba. According to the governor, it was reported that the young Omorhiakogbe was hit by a “stray bullet” during an operation by the NDLEA, Delta Command, at the Okpanam area of the State capital. Tanker crushes hawker to death in Lagos multiple crash An unidentified female hawker was on Saturday crushed to death by a diesel-laden tanker at Otedola bridge inward Berger area of Lagos State. It is gathered that the truck with number plate GME 483XD also rammed into three moving vehicles. The Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, Dr Olufemi Oke – Osanyintolu confirmed the incident in a statement. He said the accident happened after the tanker suffered a mechanical fault while in motion.
