 Apple's statement on minerals must be 'verified': DRC International lawyers for the Democratic Republic of Congo welcomed Apple's decision to stop sourcing minerals from there due to worsening conflict, but said they would press ahead with their cases against the company in Europe. Criminal complaints were filed against Apple subsidiaries in France and Belgium this week on behalf of DR Congo, accusing the tech firm of using conflict minerals in its supply chain, Reuters reported. DR Congo is a major source of tin, tantalum and tungsten, so-called 3T minerals used in computers and mobile phones. But some artisanal mines are run by armed groups involved in massacres, rapes and other crimes, say UN experts and rights groups. 'Satisfaction and caution' Apple said on Tuesday that it strongly disputes the claims and has told suppliers they must not use the minerals in question sourced from DR Congo or Rwanda. Six drug traffickers bag 156 years imprisonment in Lagos, Ogun The Federal High Court sitting in Lagos and Ogun state has sentenced six drug traffickers to a total of One Hundred and Fifty Six (156) years imprisonment for offences bordering on drug dealing, transportation, and conspiracy to transport illicit substances filed against them by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA. Worse hit is a 27-year-old drug dealer, Ahmed Abdulsabur who was arrested in 2022 by NDLEA operatives and prosecuted in charge number FHC/AB/20C/2022 at the Federal High Court, Abeokuta, presided over by Hon. Justice Joyce Obehi Abdulmalik. Delivering her judgment on the six counts charge brought against Ahmed, Justice Abdulmalik convicted and sentenced him to 10 years imprisonment on each count, bringing the total number of his in jail term to 60. Fire dismantle some building as early hour of 4am today 21/3/2023.😭😭 Source say they have invited fires service from the neighboring state which is Delta State. Early this morning, Whitehouse, a warehouse used for stocking fabric materials by traders in the Onitsha main market caught fire. The fire lasted for over two hours and goods and properties worth millions of Naira were lost. The fire has been managed by a combined effort of the Delta State fire service from nearby Asaba and the Anambra State fire service from equally nearby Awka. Watch videos and pictures below.

Tragedy in Ondo as 75-year-old woman sets her son, daughter-law and two grandchildren ablaze A 75-year-old woman, Iforiti Oloro, has allegedly set her son, daughter-law, and grandchildren ablaze in Ondo State.   According to reports, the tragic incident occurred at Aponmu, a suburb of Akure, Ondo’s capital city, at the weekend.    It was gathered that the septuagenarian living in the same compound with her son, Victor Oloro, woke up in the middle of the night and allegedly set the house on f!re while the family was asleep.    A resident in the community, Bayo Adegboyega, who confirmed the incident, explained that the residents noticed the family’s house was on fire on Saturday, March 18, 2023.    “We noticed that the building was on fire around 2:00 a.m., and all the family members were at home. Zambia ELEPHANT THAT KILLED TWO PEOPLE GUNNED DOWN IN KALOMO The team from the Department of National Parks and Wildlife ( DNPW) in Kalomo has gunned down one elephant in Kalomo's Tara area this Morning. Namwianga Radio reports that Kalomo District DNPW officer in Charge Kaunda Banda revealed that the stray wildlife animal is believed to be the one that killed two community members in Kanchele on Sunday. Mr Banda has further urged community members to remain vigilant as wild animals are still in their communities. Kalomo District has been facing animal human Conflict for over one month. At least two people have been killed while a number of community members have been attacked by wild animals since the time they invaded Kalomo District.

Igbo Leaders In Lagos Call On Sanwo-Olu To Release Detained Chief The Supreme Council of Ndi Eze Ndi Igbo in Lagos, yesterday, called on Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of the state to release one of their traditional rulers, Eze Chinedu Mozie, detained by the police after he challenged thugs that stopped him and his people from voting in the just concluded governorship and House of Assembly elections at the riverine community of Ibasa Satellite town. BANDITS RETURN TO BWARI, ABUJA COMMUNITY,KILL TWO PERSONS, KIDNAP MANY OTHERS.(PHOTO).

Bandits Return To Bwari, Abuja Community, Kill Two Persons, Kidnap Many Others  Terrorists, locally dubbed as bandits, blocked the Bwari-Jere road near Bwari town in the Federal Capital Territory, killing two passengers while kidnapping numerous others. Some of the witnesses at the scene said the terrorists blocked the road on Friday night, around the Ganmi junction, while they carried out their heinous act. One of the villagers, Isah John, told Daily Trust that several cars coming from the Kaduna and Bwari areas ran into the obstruction. He added that the bandits shot dead two passengers and abducted a number of others. The terrorists were shooting sporadically and in the process, their bullets hit the two passengers, who died immediately, it was learnt.

EFCC Arrests 21 Suspected Internet Fraudsters in Benin City Operatives of the Benin Zonal Command of the EFCC, on Tuesday, March 21,2023 arrested 21suspected internet fraudsters in Benin City, Edo State. The suspects were arrested in an early morning operation following actionable intelligence. They include Alakpa Marvelous, Hoghomhen Jude Moses, Christopher Odion, Azanuwna Joseph, Godfirst Christopher, Eghosa Osaretin, Onus Honda, Barnabas Alakpa,  Junior Azanuwna, Ehis Inegbinebor Francis, Godbless Eriugo, Imokhai Dickson, Epama Francis,  Ekuma Austin and Sunday Stanley. Others are Kelly Alakpa, Amiole Paul, Iweriebor Raphael, Sunday Christian, Imozemhe Raymond and Agbonghae Anthony. Items recovered from them include two Mercedes Benz, two Lexus ES 350, one Lexus RX 330 and one Toyota Camry, HP Laptops and mobile phones. The suspects have made useful statements and will be charged to court soon. More photos below .
