 October 1 protest: Ogun court restricts protesters to MKO Abiola Stadium, three other venues A High Court sitting in Abeokuta, Ogun State, has restricted members of the #FearlessInOctober protest groups in the state to the MKO Abiola Stadium in Abeokuta, Gateway International Stadium, Sagamu; Dipo Dina Stadium, Ijebu Ode, and Ansar-Ud-Deen Comprehensive High School, Ota. The court presided by Tajudeen. DUCHESS OF CORNWALL INVITED CHILDREN TO HELP DECORATE THE CHRISTMAS TREE AT THE CLARENCE HOUSE TODAY.{PHOTOS}.

         Every year, The Duchess of Cornwall invites children to help decorate the Christmas tree at Clarence House. Today, the event was attended by families supported by Helen & Douglas House (of which Her Royal Highness is Patron), and Roald Dahl's Marvellous Children's Charity. The children then joined The Duchess for lunch, featuring Christmas tree biscuits and mince pies (of course!) The Buckingham Palace Christmas Trees have also arrived! Did you know that the displaying the Christmas trees was introduced to Britain in the late eighteenth century by Queen Charlotte, consort of George III? Although the fir Christmas Tree was later popularised by Queen Victoria and Prince Albert in the nineteenth century.More photos below.

GOVERNOR OBIANO FLAGS OFF EMBER MONTHS CAMPAIGN, BANS SALE OF ALCOHOL AT MOTOR PARKS.{PHOTO}.

        The Governor of Anambra state, Dr Willie Obiano has flagged off the state edition of the end of year special road safety campaign with directives to security agencies to commence special operations aimed at curtailing the sale of alcoholic drinks and illicit drugs at all motor parks in the state. The Governor gave the directive on Tuesday while addressing special end of year awareness creation rally held at Chisco Motor Park Onitsha, before flagging it off. The Governor expressed concern with the safety and security of people of the state, nothing that he would continue to mobilise members of the security agencies operating in the state to work towards safety and security of all road travellers during the forthcoming yuletide period. He described as worrisome, a situation where some motorists violate traffic rules and regulations with impunity and in the process endanger their lives and that of other road users. BRIBERY: JUDGE HANDS OFF JUSTICE YUNUSA'S CASE.

       The scheduled arraignment of Justice Mohammed Yunusa, a dismissed judge of the Federal High Court, before Justice Mojisola Dada of the Lagos State High Court, Ikeja suffered a setback today, Wednesday, December 13, 2017 as the prosecution was informed that the case file had been sent for re-assignment. Justice Yunusa is to face trial for a 3-count charge of attempting to pervert the course of justice and corruption preferred ag ainst him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.One of the counts reads: “That you, Yunusa Mohammed Nasir, between February and September, 2015 within the jurisdiction of this honourable court, being a public official to wit: a Judge of the Federal High Court attempted to pervert the course of justice by engaging in constant private and confidential telephone communication with Rickey Tarfa SAN, counsel to the applicants in: (1) Suit No. FHC/L/CS/714/2015 between Mr. Adewale Adeniyi v EFCC & 2 Others, (ii) Suit No. FHC/L/CS/7 15/20 1

ABOUT 20 CARS GOT BURNT TODAY AFTER A FUEL TANKER CAUSED A FIRE OUTBREAK ON FESTAC LINK BRIDGE.{PHOTOS}.

     No fewer than 20 vehicles and four commercial motorcycles were, on Wednesday afternoon, burnt at Festac Link bridge in Amuwo Odofin LGA of Lagos State. The accident occurred around noon as a tanker laden with petrol fell and spilled its content on the Festac Link Bridge. It was gathered that fire fighters arrived at the scene later but did not have enough water to quench the fire. A witness, Mr. Olufemi Popoola, told Punch that the tanker, coming from Apple Junction and going to FESTAC Town, was ascending the bridge when it suddenly rolled back and fell. The impact of the fall separated the tank from the truck’s body, resulting in an explosion. ” Some residents and passers-by attacked the fire with buckets of water to no avail. “The fire then spilled into a car shop on the foot of the bridge, burning some of the cars, while the attendants quickly drove out some. “Furniture items, bags and boxes displayed for sale on the foot of the bridge were all burnt.”More photos below.

ONE PERSON DEAD AFTER MAGU'S HOUSE WAS ATTACKED IN ABUJA.

        The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, confirms an attack on the property of the acting Chairman of the Commission, Ibrahim Magu, which unfortunately resulted in the death of a security official. The property, a farmhouse located in Karshi, a suburb of Abuja was attacked by unknown gunmen at about 10pm on December 12, 2017 . The unidentified men murdered a police sergeant on duty. The incident was the second such attack on the same farmhouse. While the Commission will not speculate on the motives for the attack or the sponsors, it wishes to state that the EFCC under the leadership of Ibrahim Magu will not be deterred in its mission of ridding Nigeria of corruption.

NIGERIA REQUIRES INTERNATIONAL SUPPORT TO MITIGATE EFFECTS OF CLIMATE CHANGE, SAYS PRESIDENT BUHARI.

           President Muhammadu Buhari Tuesday in Paris appealed to the international community to support Nigeria’s commitment to reducing the negative effects of climate change. In a submission to the One Planet Summit in the French capital attended by over 60 Heads of State and Governments, as well as representatives of non-governmental and private organisations, with the theme, “Climate Change Financing,” the President said, “we cannot implement our Nationally Determined Contribution without adequate financial, technical and capacity building support from the developed countries.” While noting that “since the adoption of the Paris Agreement, we have been strengthening our national efforts towards the implementation of the Agreement and the Marrakech Call for Action,” and Nigeria had already ratified the Paris Agreement in May 2017, President Buhari, however, said the country’s “Nationally Determined Contribution to reduce our emission by 20% by 2020 and 40% by 2030,” cannot
