PSC PROMOTES OVER 8,000 POLICE OFFICERS. (PHOTO).

 PSC Promotes Over 8,000 Police Officers On Wednesday, the Police Service Commission (PSC) approved the promotion of 8,053 senior police officers. Earlier in the week, 11 Commissioners of Police were promoted to the rank of Assistant Inspectors General (AIGs), and 16 Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs) were elevated to the rank of Commissioners of Police (CPs). Additionally, 21 Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs) were promoted to DCPs, and 57 Chief Superintendents of Police (CSPs) moved up to Assistant Commissioners (ACPs). According to a statement by the PSC's spokesperson, Ikechukwu Ani, the total number of promotions included 1,348 Superintendents of Police (SPs) promoted to Chief Superintendents, 876 Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs) promoted to Superintendents, and 5,829 Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASPs) promoted to DSPs. Early this morning, a politically  motivated  violent protest took place in Sagamu, during which innocent people were attacked while banks and public infrastructures were destroyed  and razed  down by fire . We were reliably informed that some  disgruntled members of the opposition party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), whose members and some of the party’s candidates were seen leading the demonstration. Ogun Police arrest 27 suspects over destruction of banks, violence The Ogun State Police Command has arrested 27 suspects in connection with the pandemonium that broke out in Sagamu on Monday morning. The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, SP Abimbola Oyeyemi, disclosed this on Monday, a few hours after the violence, which led to the destruction of two banks, broke out. Oyeyemi in a terse statement said normalcy has returned to the area. He said “normalcy has been restored in greater parts of Sagamu now. CP Frank Mba is personally leading police teams and some military men to tackle the situation. There had been reports of violence that broke out on Monday morning when some irate youths in Sagamu, Ogun State, went on the rampage following their inability to withdraw cash. MAN ARRESTED TODAY FOR KILLING A CATHOLIC BISHOP IN LOS ANGELES. (PHOTOS).

  A man wanted in connection with the weekend murder of a longtime Los Angeles bishop was arrested early today Monday. The suspect wanted in the shooting death of Auxiliary Bishop David O'Connell was taken into custody during an operation by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department's Special Enforcement Bureau, the sources said. The man was identified by detectives early in the investigation through an unnamed technical means, according to the sources, and was located and detained without incident.  The man's name was not immediately released. Industry sheriff's deputies were responding to a medical emergency call when they found O’Connell, who appeared to have been shot in the upper torso. Los Angeles Archbishop José Gomez released a statement Sunday after the LASD determined it was a homicide, saying the archdiocese and parishioners were "deeply disturbed and saddened" by the news.  Court bars INEC from using MC Oluomo to distribute election materials Justice Chukwujekwu Aneke of the Federal High Court, Lagos, has granted the prayer of the Labour Party, LP, seeking an order to bar the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, from using the Chairman of the Lagos Parks and Garages, Musliu Akinsanya, better known as MC Oluomo, from distributing election materials in Lagos. The LP and five persons had sought a court order to bar MC Oluomo from participating in the distribution of electoral materials. They cited concerns over his alleged association with political violence and thuggery.

The Office of Education Quality Assurance (OEQA), Ministry of Education, has reminded stakeholders in the education sector that the mid-term break for the 2nd Term of the 2022/2023 Academic Session will hold from Friday, 24th February – Friday, 3rd March 2023. A statement signed by the Director-General, Office of Education Quality Assurance (OEQA), Mrs. Abiola Seriki-Ayeni, added that this is in line with the Harmonized Academic Calendar for 2022/2023 Session amended and approved by the Commissioner for Education, Mrs. Folashade Adefisayo. While noting that the announcement is subject to further directives from the Federal and State Governments Seriki-Ayeni maintained that compliance is mandatory for all schools below the tertiary level in the State. Justice Obiora Egwuatu adjourned hearing in the case after ruling on the defendants’ bail applications. The court granted the defendants bail in the sum of N500million each and two sureties in like sum. The sureties must reside in Abuja, with identifiable addresses and own landed property worth N500 million within the jurisdiction of the court. The Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai has said what the Central Bank of Nigeria did regarding the naira redesign is different from what was approved by President Muhammadu Buhari. In a post on Twitter on Sunday titled, ‘NIGERIA UPDATE: ABC of Currency Redesign vs. XYZ of Cash Confiscation Explained’, El-Rufai accused the apex bank of derailing the policy objective to sabotage the elections.  He said, “Currency redesign was approved by the President and announced. Currency recoloring resulted. “Currency swap was envisaged by s.20(3) of the Central Bank of Nigeria Act as approved by PMB. Swap means I take N100,000 to the bank in old notes & I receive N100,000 immediately in new notes.
