Abia State Community Policing Vigilante has arrested an electric cable thief, simply identified as Samuel, while vandalizing power installations along Isi Court-Ikputu road in Isiala Ngwa area. While two out of the three thieves escaped with their operational tricycle, the leader of the syndicate identified as Samuel, from Ebonyi State was apprehended by the Community Policing Vigilante. The arrest of the suspect was made known by the Commander of Abia State Community Policing Vigilante in the area, K.C. Martins. Martins, who said that efforts have been intensified by his men to arrest the two fleeing members of the criminal gang, commended Governor Alex Otti’s administration’s determination protecting the lives and property of the people in the State. Court Jails Ex-convict 12 Years For $1.4m Fraud in Lagos  Justice R. A. Osodi of the Special Offences Court sitting in Ikeja, Lagos has convicted and sentenced a businessman, Kolawole Erinle, to twelve(12) years imprisonment for $1.4m fraud. Erinle and his company, Rinde-Remdex Nigeria Limited were first arraigned before Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo of the Special Offences Court sitting in Ikeja, Lagos, on March 11, 2022. Though he pleaded “not guilty”, the trial could not be concluded before the retirement of Justice Taiwo, thereby prompting the re-assignment of the case to Justice Oshodi.  He was subsequently re-arraigned on October 28, 2022 before Justice Oshodi on three-count charges bordering on conspiracy, retention of proceeds of criminal conduct, and obtaining money under false pretence to the tune of $1,410,000 (One Million Four-Hundred and Ten Thousand United States Dollars).    One of the charges reads: "Kolawole Adedayo Erinle and Edward Dada (still at large)...

Man, 20, Arrested For Stealing  Bridge Lights In Lagos Operatives of the Rapid Response Squad have arrested one Gbolahan Olarewaju, 20, for removing seven AKT lights illuminating under the Otedola bridge in Lagos. This was disclosed in a post on the official X handle of the RRS on Friday. The post read, "Around 2:00 a.m. yesterday, operatives of the Rapid Response Squad on patrol of Otedola Bridge arrested Gbolahan Olarewaju, 20, for removing seven AKT lights illuminating the under bridge." According to RRS, many of the AKT Light with 24 watt fitting bulbs were removed weeks ago and were replaced a few days later to re-illuminate the under bridge. The post further read that Olanrewaju confessed that he removed the first fittings and also vandalised some of the facilities, after which he handed over the items to his friend to assist him in selling them. The suspect has been charged in court.
